I don't think it's as paranoid a shout as you'd think. We're often offered "promoted articles" from a few various with offer of payment to influence markets - like "Ancelotti the Early Everton Replacement for Koeman" Of course we didn't run it, but I'm sure others did.

Also;

[Edit] Example. Day before Lukaku signs for Everton, Sky Spots run an article saying Real Madrid have swooped in, concluding with odds of something like 6/1 for him to sign for Real Madrid;

Their last reply made me smile.

"Its not speculation that impacts odds but yeah, speculation encourages bets which impacts odds"
Thanks for posting that.
Poor replies from Sky.

Their Sports News, when reporting about Emery to Arsenal kept on saying that he was 33/1 only a few hours before appointment, this again makes the average punter interested in backing a bit of an outsider in future markets.

As for Silva, the last thing they want is a few lumpy bets on at 1/3.

Does anyone believe that Silva was entirely the choice of Brands and DBB? Or do we all agree that this was an appointment he's been forced to rubber stamp by Moshiri as it was already arranged before he came in?

I know which camp I'm in.

Brands already accepting mediocrity with his first appointment by the looks of it. That bodes well for the future.

unbelievable really isn't it. just don't see what Brands would see in an already proven failure in the premier league, who doesn't look to set up a team with a solid defence.

it quite obviously a face saving exercise by Moshiri who went all guns blazing trying to get him last October when he was flavour of the month, even being prepared to pay 15m +

the fact that Brands has agreed to this appointment, already doesn't bode well with me,

Can we hurry up and appoint him, so we can get on with getting him sacked.
he will start off all guns blazing, probably get a couple of decent results, then the players will relax, as has happened at his other clubs and fall in mediocre football, tinged with crap results.

sacked around Christmas.

Who cares, we’re getting him either way haha, deal with it.
Thought the whole point of a director of football is that he should be directing the football related decisions and not just rubber stamping Moshiri's.

I wonder if Moshiri has been out scouting players for us again like he did with Tosun.

On the one hand I think Silva is being foised on Brands.

But on the other hand I do not think Brands would have signed up if he was being lumbered with a manager ge did not rate.

So either Brands has no problem with Silva being the manager....or else we are going to see another name come out the woodwork.

Well who knows, nobody knew that we've had contact with brands for the last two years but Moshiri and brands have both confirmed it.

Maybe Moshiri spoke to brands after we sacked koeman for a good manager to go in for and he said Silva. Or maybe Moshiri had the foresight to identify a style of play that he wants for everton. Tried to get a manager that plays that way in October. Finally got the dof that he wanted in who wants the manager to play that way and Silva is the outstanding candidate so it just made sense to get him.

Either way I doubt very much brands has left psv to come to everton to just be Moshiris puppet.

You not a fan mate?

I go on facts and statistics, and all his point to abstract failure.

to be fair, there are 4 candidates with MUCH better PREMIER LEAGUE stats than Silva

Brendan Rodgers - alltho his ties to the RS are evident , his record is appealing

AVB - great premier league record

sean dyce - currently flavour of the month, bit too much like allardyce for me, but a better record than silva

Eddie Howe - has played 3 times as many Premeir league games than silva with a much much much smaller club in Bournemouth and out performs him in every department.
