Done this with Rooney, Fellaini, Stones, Lukaku and others in the past and it hasn't helped us. I think we have deeper issues.
I think all of those were good business. We sold them for loads. Lukaku and fellaini are the type of signings we need need be making year in year out. With replacements lined up well in advance - Southampton
Rooney coming back doesn’t really count. It was a swan song. Stones wasn’t reallya a big signing he was a punt of a youngster that cAme good... really good.
Selling him wasn’t the problem. If we had signed VVD from Celtic it would have been great business.
Koeman was very short term in his out look, trying to get a good squad for that season and get enough success for that season.
Dembele from Celtic would be a good place to start this season.

Well we'll just have to wait and see eh.
Even Allardyce quoted Brands coming in months ago couple that with Silva being mooted . All will be revealed in the coming days .
I dont think any other Coach or D.O.F. have been under consideration.
If any others were in the frame their agents would have blurted it to every news agency going cos thats what they do.
Apart from contractual and legal issues I think this has been sorted for some time.
I’m sure Silva has been sorted for some time, that really doesn’t prove your point though. It’s clearly Moshiri’s decision from way back in October.

Good post, I think some fans need to be realistic, we are the best of the rest and that’s it, every man and his dog come the start of the season will have us down for 7th place finish.

So we need to be patient and hope with silvas appointment and brands we can find some new talent and get us playing again and competing

I'm just trying to be realistic. Man City are awesome now, but when they first game into money they had similar problems to us and it took them a long time to build up the squad and infrastructure. I'm not saying that it is inevitable that we will get to that stage, but the road to better things is always rocky.

We CAN attract bigger names, but we need to have found some success before we do so. That's the only way.

I just hope with all hope that he does well.

I am in the same underwhelmed place I was with Martinez, Koeman, and the even more underwhelming Allardyce, when they were appointed.

I hope he can produce the goods early and often to build a bit of leeway when the team inevitably has a poor performance. I think expectations are at a very low point for him, so I suppose he has that going for him.

Let's just see some actual football with our players giving it all and I can get behind that.
Appointing Allardyce, was the lowest point in managerial appointments in the history of the club, as far as I was concerned.

If Silva has been waiting and watching since he got the boot from Watford, he should be ready to go from the moment he is appointed.

Same with Brands.

He`s had months to study the mess that the team is in and can`t really have any excuses for not being aware of the mess and how to fix it.

I`m quietly optimistic that he will come in and together with Brands, will start the much needed cull immediately and quickly bring in his own players.

As others have said, Brands is going to be key in all of this.

Can you imagine if they both come out tomorrow and say "we've got a lot to assess so we can't wait for the pre season games to start so we can see what areas we might need to strengthen. We can then decide who our targets might be. We've been particulary impressed with Morgan in the first 6 minutes of training this morning and decided to give him the captain's armband"

lol

Only Everton could drag this Saga on this long. They wanted him last November, he's been out of work for 6 months, we've got no manager, yet still we cant move swiftly and get it done.
If its the man he board really want, it should have been done 1 minute after they sacked Sam.

We have moved quickly.

Watford have muddied the waters with this legal claim.

We've been treading the line and decided to push through with it.

Brands hasn't officially started yet either so if you're thinking that we'd have made three signings in the past week or so if we had a manager you're mistaken.

For whatever reasons, it was always going to be 1st June.

I really can`t see why people`s heads are falling off over this.

Everyone else is on holiday pre World Cup.

The new DOF does not start till tomorrow.
It’s the job of the new DOF to appoint the new manager.
The new DOF has to be seen as the man in charge.
The manager will be appointed when the new DOF has moved in to his new home with cannabis growing in the greenhouse and the clog shop next door
