This is what I can’t understand. Our best football was played in the latter part of the season with a high tempo, pressing style of play. We’ve seen nothing of the like this season. Instead we’ve reverted to a slow, predictable build up, that allows teams to get numbers behind the ball, which let’s face it, we’ve always struggled to break down.

just as a lot of teams were flagging after a hard season playing in Europe and in cup competitions, our squad had a luxury 17 day holiday and came back revitalised and fresh ready to steam roller teams in dead rubber matches where the opponents were knackered … that's what happened

Instead of kenwright/moshiri picking the next manager, which frankly has been a disaster. Leave it to Brands. He has brought in these players, give him the task of of appointing a person who will work with these players and has the same philosophy as Brands, as opposed to bringing in a manager, who’ll make wholesale changes.

This makes a lot of sense and I suspect it may we’ll happen if / when Brands decides it’s time to pull the trigger.

Feel like im just repeating myself in this silva thread but its so hard to call as he has no track record as a manager.

I think he is obsess with possession football, as if he is trying to show off what he is capable of but fail to realise he doesn’t have the players to do so, and stubbornly stuck with that approach until he realise he is in deep trouble and left with no choice but play with the most simply form of Football that could win games easier - counter.

Said it at the time he was appointed. What did Silva have on his CV that that the hierarchy at the club thought would take us to the next level.

Maybe that's partly Sigurdsson to blame too, thinking he's above the hook.

this would indicate to me that there are problems arising behind the scenes...

gylfi shouldn't be immune to being pulled... BUT you would have liked to thing this change was talked about at half time , look gylf, if things don't pick up i'll be swapping you out etc etc..

this obv never happened though with gylfi lack of knowing about the sub

People who suggested going for Callum Wilson were laughed out of here in the summer. And the same treatment for me after suggesting giving EH a go last year. Silva won’t make Xmas at this rate. Losing at Villa & Bournemouth? ffs.

I got laughed out of town for suggesting Wilson.. hes EXACTLY who we need right at this moment in time.

How many times today did we turn an attack all the way back to Pickford ?
He needs to learn what's our name Everton as the fans deserve better especially the fans who were there today - his team selection gives the opposition an advantage plus take off your goal scorer and play the same formation that has failed all afternoon - 60% meaning less possession tippy tappy football at its worst.....you could have Dixie Dean in his bygone hey days up there and we would not score many.......

Thats how im starting to think. And i think opposition managers are to.
We're playing Everton. They like to have the ball and press high.
Fine. Let them do it. They have no stirling silva or de bruyne to hurt us. They can have it and we'll pick them off with all that space behind.

Sigurdsson has one good game per month. Gets away with a lot of crap in our team seems invincible under Marco Silva. Needs to grow a set, be a proper manager and drop him when he’s not performing. Sick of players going missing and walking straight back into our starting line up next game.

I was watching Siggy intently.
I'd had a few bob on him having 2 shots on target in the game.
I was as surprised as he was when his number went up.

As we were early at the game I watched the warm ups from the sidelines.
Digne went through his crossing drills and everytime he crossed to Siggy he buried it.
Yet in game time, Siggy wasn't making the runs.

Dignes delivery is piss takingly good and a Tim Cahill type midfielder ghosting in would have a bloody field day.
