Dave, the issue here is that at all the PL clubs he has managed have had an atrocious record at defending set pieces. Blame the players all you like, it's not them.

This is a case of causation, not correlation, as you'd probably want to argue. As the saying goes, if the hat fits...
I cant remember an Everton team in the last 15 years which didn't defend set pieces appallingly, Moyes' teams included.

I have no idea what the club should do. The problem is, I don't have any faith that there’s a viable candidate out there to replace him and turn things around mid-season.

Assuming he stays, he needs to at least switch up the starting 11. He’s not doing himself any favors by stubbornly trotting out the same underperformers each week. Schneiderlin and Gylfi need to be benched, if for no other reason than to send a message that nobody automatically gets a starting place.

no David, I blame the manager who players 2 defensive midfielders against Burnley, persists with an ineffective Icelandic tit, breaks up our most threatening option in Bernard and Digne, persists with playing a cart horse in Bambi, only makes subs when we’re down, never changes the formation

I can go on
They're cowards. Is the manager supposed to clinically attach a pair of bollocks on them all?

It's the players, nit the system. The players like Zouma were operating the zonal marking, then they weren't replaced.

Silva is playing with a poor deck here.
Yeah I don’t think it’s any coincidence that second half of last season with Zouma we had one of the best defences in the league for defending set plays.

Come on Dave, this is to a different level as every ball in the box brings almost an expectation that we will concede. This should be a priority on the training ground.
I;ve seen that level of ineptitiude for long periods at Everton for years.

Here is a clue. He won't, so he must go.

He still got enough in that deck to beat the likes of Bournemouth, Sheff Utd, Villa and Burnley dave.

I'm not uncritical of Silva. He's made mistakes. Many.

But it's daft to suggest we have a manager who cant get us results when we know the opposite to be true.

The common denomiator here is the players. There is no BLEND. Who's responsible for that other those players and the man who bought them.

Drop them all. Yeah. Sorted.

The problem isn't all of them though is it? Sigurdsson needs to be dropped because his place in the team affects the formation in a massively negative way and he isn't producing anything to justify his inclusion. Schneiderlin does nothing in the team and needs to be replaced with a more progressive midfielder.

That's the big justifiable criticism for me. However, did he want those players to still be here? They didn't come in on his watch.
