I want us to avoid sacking Silva if possible - not because he's been great - because of instability and the fact that there will be a lot of turmoil, new team building and a very expensie 2 year turnaround again, if we do. Instead, I wish there was a way someone could tell him - i.e. Brands - to NOT use Schneiderlin and Sigurdsson in the same team, and to find a balance of pace and power as well as neat and simple passing. Siggy is good, but doesn't have the drive that we need, and with Schneiderlin and Delph that trio is just not powerful enough to drive our midfield. From the available options, I really think that trio needs to be Davies, Delph and Iwobi and of course Gomes for Davies when he's fit, JP for Delph when he's fit - though we have no idea what he'll be like.
For me, the problem is not so much the players but the tactics and strategy, and if somehow Silva would tweak this, I think we'll do much better. I just cannot understand how Scheneiderlin gets picked again and again, and the big tactical mistake of Silva is to play our midfielders who have similar levels of pace and power in the same trio. We need 3 different midfielders in the middle, or a 3-5-2, otherwise I think we are doomed
How about this? If it HAS to be 4-2-3-1, then it has to be Iwobi and Bernard shuffling around the no.10 role and one of them drops wide.
It it's a 4-3-3 then Davies, Gomes, Delph and JP for Delph when he's back and this could adapt to a 3-5-2 when required
