Yes that is fair. Not just Davies either, Calvert Lewin, Keane and Richarlinson have all improved markedly under him and he has began to get the best out of Digne/Gomes/Mina.

The difficulty he has is his game management isn't really his strength. I always feel if he has time on the training pitch it will work well, but in game we don't respond that well. I'd also add, he will probably regret not implementing his style (which I believe today is close too) much earlier. I think supporters would have given him time last season had he done so and we'd have it more bedded in.

His challenge is to get enough results in the short term, so that the wider good work he does in the long term can be seen.

Today could be a big turning point though. He has stumbled on a set of players that look well balanced. Keep playing them and try not to deviate too far. We are still in touch with sides above us.

I'd like to think that, but the question would then be why on earth did he wait until he was faced with the sack before doing it?

No im just not a hypocrite- come on Steve I handed you ya backside on Kipper a good few times regarding Kenwright dont make me do it on here aswell :pint2:

Really? And you don't even have the courage to use the same user name? Nobody ever 'handed me my backside' re Kenwright on Kipper . There were some very good Kenwright debates on Kipper and only one or two caused problems...maybe you're one of those. Anyway, no matter, I won't be reading your stuff any more, better things to do. Off you go junior.

He's in a win win situation now,
If he stays brave, and asks the team to play in his style, 433 etc and we improve then he's a genius...
If it doesn't change he was going anyway...

Not for me but then again my expectations are higher than most - £200+ million spent should have us top 7 with a recognised way/system after 47 league games.

It's absolute crap been served 4 games out of 5 but you have the chairman dancing around the interview room and fans thinking the good times are back.

Farce.

Name one fan who thinks the good times are back? It’s not a crime to enjoy what was a terrific performance but still be realistic that there’s work still to be done

This season is wide open for a number of reasons. The RS and City will finish top two in whatever order. Spurs have regressed a lot this season. Man U are in crisis themselves. Arsenal and Chelsea are unknown quantities as they are both under transition. The rest of the league will beat each other over the course of the season.

This leaves 4 out of the top 6 places up for grabs. With three quarters of the season left, Silva needs to target top 6. If he doesn’t manage it this season, then I don’t see how he will when the other top teams are at full strength.

This season reminds me a lot of the season that Leicester won the title. Lots of opportunity for unfancied teams to crash the top 6 if they really want it.

I'd like to think that, but the question would then be why on earth did he wait until he was faced with the sack before doing it?

Only he can answer that. If you want my opinion I think he became increasingly cautious with each defeat and put more protection in. I suspect today he felt given it was almost win or bust he through caution to the wind. It's amazing what will go for you if you have a go though. Whats that saying about fortune favouring the brave?

this is how stupid football is....if we win next week then beat Watford...he will be like the messiah..
But not really, these games should be a standard win, we use to worry about our form vs top 6, now its West Ham and Brighton, that alone shows how far back he has taken us.
Today was great, but should be standard if we want that top 6 place that we talked about when the season started.
