I still have not seen anything that tells me the players have turned against the manager.

Quite peculiar to read posts complaining that posters expected 7th...

When a dodgy VAR decision aside we would currently be joint 7th.

Me too. Been a poor start, no doubt, then a very good performance hammering West Ham, then played well at Brighton, turned the game round, then Bang, nuts VAR that sucked the life out of us.

Sure the haters will pounce and say that every other side would have the stones to recover, ergo, we are weak and spineless, but I see progress. Just.

We have been beaten by Villa Bournemouth Sheff utd and Brighton.

If he would have been given the players he wanted OR not had such injuries OR a shocking VAR decision we would be well above 7th.

Which is actually pretty good for this squad.

There are a number of difficulties with being an Everton manager currently. You don't get a lot of time, you essentially get a seasons grace and then the judgement is on. If you don't progress you are also going to be judged too, so if you stand still you are in big trouble. So you need to show progress and show it quite quickly.

On the plus side you do have significant funds to work with (not an unlimited pot but certainly funds available) and a squad that currently is in reasonably decent working order (compared to the mess that we had 18 months ago). Still some trimming needing but it's a younger, better squad for sure.

I do think a more experienced manager like Benitez would quite relish the opportunity. I can see some similarities with Leicester last season, who were bumming around a bit, and were pretty tedious the two times we played them, but Rodgers saw something in a young squad that with a couple of tweaks suddenly had it turned around. Thats the hope anyway!

I think that part of the problem was that the football was so poor. It wasn't just losing alone.

I think that if the fans could see where the manager was trying to go with the team he might get more time but some of the performances were clueless.

If somehow he is still managing the club maybe you won’t say the same (progress) by the new year because by the time he will lead the club to fight relegation after spending huge sum of cash to buy players. The December fixtures are damning hard.

Makes no sense to me...

Gomes + Gbamin out for a large amount of games...if that was Gana + Gomes out last season we would have been struggling.

Shocking VAR decision at Brighton and others not given in other games e.g Minas header the other week...just makes no sense.

Clearly didnt get the players he wanted in summer.

Yet 3pts off 7th...players love him and clearly having confidence issues.

If we had won against brigton this place would have been very positive.

But we are 2points off bottom 3 having played only Man city of any note we can't defend we can't win away, where is the progress mate.

Well I hope I will say that. Nothing in the attitude of the players in the last 2 games has said they have downed tools. The last 2 performances have been encouraging. Even if the result at Brighton wasnt. But I dont lay that at his door.

Ignoring BFS, (he was all ways a stop gap), under Martinez and Koeman it was obvious they had lost the plot. I just dont see that with Silva.

The West Ham game was definitely progress, the Brighton game was a disaster from a results point of view but the performance did contain some promise.

However, the team picked against West Ham was missing Coleman(suspension) , Delph and Schneiderlin(injury) .
We had to play Sidibe and more or less the same for Davies.
The only difficult decision was dropping Sigurdsson and playing Iwobi there.... which he reversed against Brighton when Bernard got injured.
