Honestly, Pochettino is a more realistic option than Mourinho if Spurs do sack him.
Absolutely. Not only is he more realistic he would suit the club much more in what its trying to do in terms of player development, type of tramsfers etc.
The thing is, he could walk into one of the top clubs asking what he wants atm. If he went for Everton and it didnt work out, he wouldn't obviously be in the same bargaining position. Brand Poch would take a significant hit. He might mever be in quite the same position again. So seems unlikely
but Mourinho, seriously ffs. Even if we did get him he'd more likely send us down the Poetsmouth route than anything else.

It is not just a question of losing to those teams but the manner of us losing it is that for me which is most nauseating. Similarly for the wins which I welcome but how convincing were they for the future and climbing the table?

We woudnt get either

I honestly think that as a top level manager, Jose is a busted flush. We should steer well clear of him.
Steve. I think Mourinho would get us back up to a higher level , not a Liverpool level or a City level but a level where we would be top six challengers or maybe even top four.
He knows how to win matches and that is something we need. I think the Utd job was never the right job for him but I think he thought it was the ultimate job to crown his career.

I think his appointment would raise our stature in the game and if over a three or four year period he brought us back into the top six we could then attract the successful managers that probably would not come to us now.

I say all this realising that Mourinho also probably would not come or that we may not even want him.

lets just pretend Marco got the "Heave-Ho Silva away!" tomorrow and we managed to throw a 3-4 year contract at Jose for a huge annual salary. What happens if we are in the same spot in 12 months - he doesn't change his system, he's not infallible, he is a stubborn control freak who would alienate everyone. So then what...? huge compo, bring in a 'less than Silva' look alike or an even more high profile manager than Mourinho? In the mean time Bramley Moore has faded like us into the Championship. People need to think further than 2 matches ahead.

The problem I see, is if the next two results go bad. I think there’s another international break in November? And they sack him then. A new manger is walking into a horrendous set of fixtures.
I’m not sure the board will want to put a new manager under that type of pressure.

I think he will be sacked early Jan at the earliest, if he manages to come through December and the team have picked up and are also in the semi’s of the cup. He may last the season.

I agree with a lot of what you’ve said.
Also I think he would already have the job, if Brands & Moshiri wanted him and he was happy to work under marcel’s philosophy.

Maybe a compromise of letting him have one player already at his peak every window lol.

Also if he had been the manager at the Brighton game, he probably would have gone mental after. And that would have been played for days, by every media outlet. Big news and the Ref in charge of VAR under the spotlight. Even if silva had kicked off. It would have been forgotten the next day.

I honestly believe referees are reluctant to give wrong decisions against the top teams and big characters like Jose, as they know they will be headline news. He definitely would turn us into a nasty, horrible, snide team/club . Which is sadly missing from the current players and the board.

I thought by his expression and frustration on the touch line in the first half against Watford, he looked like he knew a loss was a sacking. Don't think I've seen him so animated (or maybe just not noticed before)?

6 defeats from last 7 league games if Spurs beat us. Newcastle and Southampton should both lose, so we'll stay where we are in the table. Will this pathetic board of ours allow this to continue, even with a draw? You bet.

There are very few managers,if any, that guarantee success.
Mourinho is a serial winner and even at Utd it isn't as if he never won anything. The problem at Utd seem to run far deeper than Mourinho.
The managers that are out there who are most successful at the moment will not travel to England to join Everton... certainly not in our present situation.
Mourinho seems to want to stay in England where he has limited options and even though no guarantee of success, I would almost guarantee substantial improvement with him.

Agree. Cant be bothered will long winded reasons why. Other than i think his style of play is 10 years out of date. The he wins trophies thing playing that way at Everton in my opinion wouldnt work. Everton fans would just end up hating the football with no trophies.

How can we not get Mourinho?
He was interviewed by us before, turns out the United job came up so he took that.

Unless a bigger club that ticks all his boxes comes along then he would come to us. Arsenal and Spurs I dont think would want him, so when he speaks of wanting to return to the Premier League, we are the only viable choice.

Make a statement Mosh - get him in!

When was the last time Mourinho joined a struggling team near Relegation, we haven’t got the money he likes to spend either.
In the timeline of Jose Mourinho the manager we are not a big club, we’ve won nothing.

I don’t see how people think this is even 1% possible.

We all know from the fixture list it will be a tough December, Difficult to see where we are going to get points, not impossible but hard. The games we had for the beginning of the season, on paper we should have been wins, that would have given us the cushion to withstand the December onslaught.

Therein lies the failure of Silva's management.

What is the January fixture list like?
