How much do you think Isco and James would be valued at and what type of money would they be on?

I do look at our central area and to be honest it would be ideal for us to have McCarthy and Besic as options + Barkley as a starter (Tarashaj coming in as backup) which would leave potentially two places to be filled (bearing in mind Barry is 35 now).

Personally though if we are looking at Real Madrid i would be going for Kovacic and playing him as a deep playmaker...the Isco one is interesting as i think Martinez should be signing Spanish players so that Deulofeu gets more exposure to the natonal team.

My man James would be worth around the 60m we would be getting for Lukaku, and I think Jose will pay him whatever he wants to manage him at Everton mate.

@kithnou @Zatara

I'd agree with that for James. Rumoured they are willing to offload him but would still be up around that value IMO, wages I have no idea but for a signing like that I wouldn't expect change from £150K a week minimum.

Isco has never really managed to fully establish himself from what i've seen so maybe £30-40M for outright ownership or less if we included a buy back option like they did for Morata/Juve. The chance to play regularly and his lower profile should be reflected in wages.

Either signing would be a marquee signing and a massive statement of intent IMO. If Moshiri wants to transform the commercial performance of the club then someone that will sell shirts and put bums on seats is a good start.

i think Isco would be more realistic (obviously). Personally think the largest weekly wages will increase to £125k for our top players to re-sign and i would imagine James would be on £150k now and the transfer fee is too high.

I could see us going for Isco to play in the central areas, possibly RCM linking with Deulofeu BUT not sure he would want to leave Madrid as i thought hes playing games there and alot of players would take 20 games at madrid rather than 40 games elsewhere.

Not to make this a Martinez thread (again) but i do think we should be looking at Spain. We have Martinez and the goalkeeping coach who are both Spanish + Robles and Deulofeu. I would like to see us go for Sergio Rico, Sevillas keeper.

I remember when Arteta was our top player but never got into the spanish squads. I think it would be good if we went for a Rico/Isco which would mean their national team scouts were also watching Deulofeu.

@kithnou

Don't know whether he'd want to leave but he's been consistently linked with moves away since he got there. He's involved in a lot of games but frequently from the bench or he's the one to get subbed when started. Zidane benched him for CL game last night so maybe doesn't see him as a key player (also benched James).

Suppose we won't know unless we put in a bid. He might well fancy having a team built around him. I'd expect that £125k p/w would be enough for him too.

Obvously we should sign players based on their merit, but Isco has a higher profile than Del so he might get more Spanish scouting exposure as you've said. Think thats applicable regardless of the manager though. Not seen enough of Rico to be honest but will have a look next time I see a Sevilla game on.

If we spend big on a keeper then Ter Stegen or Leno from the German side but Rico looks top notch to me...i think he will get in the spanish side over De Gea fairly soon (i said the same about Butland/Hart and not far off).

Just think the Spanish connection should be something we really play on with money to spend.

With all talk of having serious money now with the TV revenues and Moshiri coming in we should be making quite a splash this summer.

Whichever side of the fence youre on, Martinez will be embarassed and under pressure next season (if hes still manager) and so will spend on top quality. Also any new manager would come in and also buy some quality players.

Back when we were after Arshavin, Moyes came out and said we were lacking an XFactor player to unlock defences. Martinez has also been after an XFactor type in Yarmolenko

My question to you is.....if NO ONE IS SOLD:

In which position will the biggest signing of the summer be made?

I would bring in a Central Midfielder.

If we had some fearless aggressive nutcase that was a quality footballer, other players could be utilised better.

My second choice if available would be Ousmane Dembele who plays for Stade Rennais as a forward.

He's so quick and attack minded. Him, Lukaku and Barkley could be a superb front 3. Let them play together and form a real understanding.

I'd geninely put Barkley up front. No point in all that boring defensive stuff, he can do it higher up the pitch and also do what he loves: scoring goals in his Everton shirt.

Players move position through their careers all the time.

I think we need to get in a left midfelder to then have three pronged trident sat behind lukaku. Deulofeu and Barkley and the new player just behind him. Dembele is getting some good comments and maybe the next French star off the production line could actually be used on the left as well but apparently Rennais are asking £30mil for him and hes not even played a season.

Definitely also lacking a CM, i wonder if Besic can get over these injuries he keeps picking up as if he was playing every week i think he'd be quite similar to Gattuso.

I know it's not probably realistic, but just imagine a front 3 of Barkley, Lukaku, and (for arguments sake) Dembele, switching positions so the opposition defenders have to adapt 3-6 times a game.

I can't believe I'm typing this but I'd take him for £30m if he is going to be as effective as Lukaku is, for a similar price.

I'm a big Besic fan. He's got the grit and determination when required, although recently he's swerved a few tackles probably due to fear of injury like you say.

As for a left mid, who would you bring in?

big fan of james rodriguez but real massively overpaid for him based on a couple of games at the world cup. he's worth £25m tops.
