Can't think of a worse manager for Belgium, really. Wilmots was bad but following it up with Matinez is just sadistic, designed to cause maximum pain and suffering to Belgian fans. Only scenario I can see that makes sense is that the Belgian FA are hard up, and reckon the players can basically manage themselves (doubtful), so an obsequious chancer like Martinez is basically just going to nod his head and agree with everyone and not get in the way.

What they clearly need is someone with the standing and strength of character to add some steel and belief to their outstanding talent. But OK, they don't grow on trees and they certainly aren't easy to get into the chair of a national side.

He's been terrible for them hasn't he? Second highest win in their history, maximum points in qualification for Russia, 21 goals scored and 1 conceded.

They should have got someone in who could do a job for them.
