Brilliant....meanwhile "Bobby" marches on with one of the most gifted international football teams turning over all opposition on their march to a World Cup finals.

We have the 7th place trophy we couldn't give away when Moyes was here to look forward to.

We just couldn't get in Bob's way when Belgium came knocking. Simple as. He outgrew us and had to move on to the next level.

We saw after that dig at Koeman that Martinez is very bitter about his sacking.I wonder has the dunce been whispering sweet nothings in Lukakus ear?Im half serious and half joking when i say that.

If Lukaku leaves it'll be as much a a commentary on Koeman's ability as his own ambitions.

He obviously doesn't buy into Koeman. He also criticised the way he set up against Spurs.

Similalrly, Barkley isn't signing a contract because he cant commit to this current manager who undermines him at every turn.

Erm this has been Barkley's best season in years.Koemans tough love approach has worked. It's worked a hell of a lot better than Martinez's endless positivity Mr Nice Guy approach.

Hi Davek. the bit i highlighted seems to be based on agenda rather than fact if you don't mind me saying?

Lukaku has seen many average and below players come into this club, seen a poor manager send the club backwards and now has seen a billionaire takeover result in very little net spend in reality and players from inferior clubs come in. This is all while scoring more and more goals and potentially putting himself at the top of the tree this season if he continues to do so. He has an agent telling him he will go straight to the top and he believes it based on the interview released.

A little bit of a tangent there but my point is that if he was to leave it would not be based on whether he gets the manager or buys into it but in despite of it. He will see the club for what it has always been whilst he was here, crap in all honesty. This is the same player breaking 20 goals for 2 seasons and finishing 11th. It makes no odds how many pound notes we throw at him, all he wants is to play for a club who competes and for a long time, sadly since he signed for us, we have not done that. for all intents and purposes we are finishing in europe out of default rather than achievement this season, a big progression but rom does not want progression, he wants to compete. His rival in the league is second in the table, he is nowhere near, same as last season, we are actually lucky to still have him based on the past couple of years.

Stats dont back you up on that assertion.

If he's happy why hasn't he and Lukaku signed?

Koeman is not a factor for them...not a positive one anyway.

My point is that if he leaves he sees Koeman as no better than Martinez and he cant progress here...in fact, his time here under Martinez got him closer to a CL spot and a medal of some description.

Bombing out of domestic cups and finishing 7th, and seeing his manager fail to get the players he promised to get in the summer, wouldn't fill him with any belief he'd be better off staying. He's said kind words about Koeman but actions speak louder than words.

Rom said he would have gone last summer if Martinez wasnt booted.

Well he actually said he stayed cos we got Koeman. But amounts to much the same thing.
No, it doesn't. He said if it had been a manager who he didn't connect with he'd have left then. Now he's complaining about tactics in certain games, so maybe the connection isn;t that strong.

Fair points, but in terms of achievements here then Koeman is about to match Martinez blow for blow in terms of european qualification. the players i believe visibly downed tools this time last season so 12 months on, with more points and higher in the league, we have made progress and i think we can all agree we have now progressed as a team under Koeman from Martinez's majority time here.

I would eprsonally ague as mentioned any reason why Lukaku would want to leave us in the future was born and rooted within Martinez's tenure here, rather than anything koeman can do, just like Stones leaving in the summer.

But it is all a moot point until he does leave so it would be a tired circling discussion we could have on the matter which i am sure many others have had on here in the past.

The last three months of last season are all about a first team that just give up and dont believe anymore. It was more a reflection of them than the manager. Cowards not prepared to go out and face their own fans at home. This, coupled with a snide or two determined to oust their manager, led to the collapse.

Got found out by the start of his second season. Nice bloke, but his reluctance to change his philosophy when we really needed him to absolutely sunk him

Chatted absolute wham too
