If they can't get Conte I suspect Madrid will look for a stooge to hold the fort until the end of the season, or even earlier, when Mourinho's reign at Man U comes to its inevitable end. It would look good on Bobby's CV: in years to come he would always be referred to as, 'former Real Madrid manager Roberto Martinez' whenever he's linked with a job at, say, Newcastle or Sunderland, or being appointed as the new manager of the Philippines.

Would be quite a challenge for the Belgian FA, if he ended up leaving to RM at this moment in time.

1) He's the first team manager.
2) He's also the technical director, since the last one got bough away by the Chinese. (he combines the jobs now)
3) They are already overstretched, because of the scandal with the agents and the whole investigation.
