I must be coming down with something for the 2nd time in two days I find myself in agreement with @davek

Pochettino unproven for me - shows some good qualities but should be winning trophies with that Spurs squad, even if its just the League Cup.

The league cup in the last 5 years has been won by - Manchester City, Manchester United, Manchester City, Chelsea, and Manchester City.

Heard some Spanish journo on the radio during the night whilst i was up doing some work and he was saying that the reason that Madrid want Martinez is because they want him to bring a number of the Belgium players to the club, starting with Hazard.

Don't get that?
It's a reference to DaveK not having any skin in the game when it comes to actually parting with your hard-earned and getting down to Goodison to watch the Blues - hence his bizarre veneration of Martinez over the actual club itself. No one who supports Everton in the literal sense of the word would find it funny that Roberto took the club to arbitration to demand full recompense for his failed regime. Nor would they choose to handwave away the humiliation of the worst home record at Goodison since Henry VIII invented football if they had paid to be there and sit through it.

Not saying it's easy to win a trophy but, in my opinion, he needs to win something soon with the squad of players he has.

Even the ageing Wenger was still regularly winning cups in his latter years.

If you don't agree, fair enough.

Would sooner have him than Martinez as a long-term manager, but 'El Gaffer' at Madrid in the short term could get enough good results to leave with honour intact before the players start to rumble him.

Found this earlier. THE IRONY.

I wonder how much Hazard leaving would mess Chelsea up, and if Bob's going to go for Lukaku as well.

Yeah, with proper players, not the yard dogs left to him by a Sgt Major Hoofball.

I have decided you are on a wind up as I refuse to believe that a grown adult (you may be a kid which would explain things) would consistently revert to such childish name calling of everybody from Moyes/Jagielka/Baines to fellow fans who happen to disagree that Martinez did a good job at Everton and is a good manage/coach.

It would be interesting to see how he invigorates an aging Real side, usually they have to buy 1/2 players to keep them at the top but I reckon they may have to do a bit of an overhaul in the summer. A stop gap would be a waste of time for him

The legacy lives on: after RM was sacked the club tried to go back to hoofball and were hammered for it. There was no mileage in that. They had to turn to the football template as laid down by Martinez. We now have a Martinez-type manager back again: one who wont revert to the hoof, one who wont see certain fixtures as unwinnable. Brave football where we get on the ball and aren't afraid of a side pressing. That's the Martinez legacy. He lost the battle and won the war.

Not sure playing good football was a Martinez original template. There was a few decent sides knocking about before Martinez entered the management game.

And the amount of brave football on show? During the Martinez decline it was a side stifled by fear and always looking for the safe sideways or backwards pass. Going forward risked losing possession and resulted in conceding chances at an alarming rate. It was tedious and not at all like the excellent football that was on show at times during his first season.

There were sound reasons for his dismissal at the time and whatever he goes on to do since then does not change that.
