Martinez new Belgium head coach

I have decided you are on a wind up as I refuse to believe that a grown adult (you may be a kid which would explain things) would consistently revert to such childish name calling of everybody from Moyes/Jagielka/Baines to fellow fans who happen to disagree that Martinez did a good job at Everton and is a good manage/coach.

It would be interesting to see how he invigorates an aging Real side, usually they have to buy 1/2 players to keep them at the top but I reckon they may have to do a bit of an overhaul in the summer. A stop gap would be a waste of time for him
He taught Jagielka how to control a ball and pass it. That's enough evidence to suggest that if anyone's capable of resurrecting careers at Madrid it's Martinez.

Not sure playing good football was a Martinez original template. There was a few decent sides knocking about before Martinez entered the management game.

And the amount of brave football on show? During the Martinez decline it was a side stifled by fear and always looking for the safe sideways or backwards pass. Going forward risked losing possession and resulted in conceding chances at an alarming rate. It was tedious and not at all like the excellent football that was on show at times during his first season.

There were sound reasons for his dismissal at the time and whatever he goes on to do since then does not change that.
Down to two things:

1/ They had reached the limits of their capapblities and couldn't do what was asked of them: move the ball and and pass the ball at speed to counteract teams that sat back stifling a game.

2/ They couldn't stand up to their own fans at Goodison and retain their nerve to keep playing the way they were instructed. They then fell between two stools and didn't defend or attack with discipline.

Just like he told Titus Bramble to play like Beckenbauer every game and Alcaraz to play like Maldini. If they could have maybe they wouldn't have been relegated.

Reached their limits? That doesn't explain the poor performances towards the end of his reign compared to his first season. After that time their should have been a move towards being able to make the players comfortable moving the ball around - It was a Martinez built side that was humiliated at Big Sam's Sunderland.

It seems strange that Martinez took his 72 point side and then made them less comfortable with the gameplan and less able to cope with the atmosphere at Goodison which in truth is often more sedate, quiet and apathetic than genuinely toxic.

Do you believe that his in game management, cartoonish positivity, and sometimes poor recruitment had less to do with his downfall?

We had Alcarez paired with Stones for a couple of games and I swear they put in the most accomplished performance from an Everton CB partnership in recent times. Cutting out danger at source, distributing with class.

I think Alcarez went back in the treatment room again and Jagielka and Distin stepped into the two CB positions and the partnership was done for.

Titus Bramble, I`d forgotten he ever existed.

Imagine having him and Alcaraz as you`re centre halves ??.

A pairing of those two would get anyone relegated all by themselves !!!

He was inflexible. He wasn't willing to give up playing a certain way. He had to go in the end because he wasn't changing and the players weren't going to change magically into better players than they were. But the original 'at source' problem was the players' poor technical ability.

You really must have the memory bak of a fruit fly. Amyone who saw them will concede they were very good for the few games they were together.

That from you just underlines what I'd suspected anyway: you dont understand football.

Take a look at the press reports from that period (roughly January/February 2014).

Sad to see the ignorance on display here.

Alcaraz was one of the worst defenders to ever pull on an Everton shirt, and that takes some doing.

He was and absolute liability.

Please stop it, as my sides are hurting from laughing so much !
Here's what Alcarez has and Jagielka never will have:
