Wigan an Ale house team? You are talking about Wigan Athletic FC who played in the Premier League for eight seasons from 2005 to 2013 aren't you? The same Wigan Athletic who under Steve Bruce managed to secure an 11th place finish & even a 10th place under Paul Jewell?! The same Wigan Athletic who most people regarded as a fairly stable side (if a poor one) in the league until Martinez got hold of the club and sent it on a downward spiral that brought them to League One? This attitude of thinking of Wigan as a pub side is why people are ready to believe the totally untrue myth that Wigan fans didn't care about being relegated because they won the cup. In truth the cared a hell of a lot and 99% of them would happily give up the cup if it meant still playing in the Premier League.

Camelot?! A fifth place finish regarded as a Camelot season?! Jesus that really brings home how low this club has fallen if you or anyone else seriously regard that as being even close to true.

No mate. It was very real. A time when we felt like we could stand toe to toe with any club and not feel second rate, which is what his predecessors after Kendall had always made us feel we were.

That was a tough ask and ultimately we buckled and couldn't maintain that fightback to rekindle our glory days. Now we must wait for our next opportunity to present itself. We need a manager who can act boldly and use the resources we have to maximum effect. I can't see that happening too soon, unfortunately. Certainly Koeman is not that man.
