Martinez: The Reality

The bit that implies that the chairman never sees the detailed P&L account or management accounts of a business, essentially all of it sorry m8.

That's just it he does see the management accounts. The management accounts don't have a OOC category cos they are more detailed so that management can make an informed decision on running the business. The accounts released to companies house which show OOC are the financial accounts and don't contain a very detailed P&L to be fair. Elstone and the accounts staff would know the difference cos they prepare them but the board would spend more time reviewing the management accounts which would have a very detailed P&L.

Fair to assume that a chairman attends board meetings ?
That other operating costs at £26M in 2014 are a good percentage of outgoings...wages being £70M ?
Those costs would naturally be discussed at said meetings what they were, why increasing, how to control them to increase profit ?
That a chairman (one who runs his own separate business with much more hands on control) would know at least some accounting terminology, even if some sort of village idiot ?

I think so, but then we get:

“When you say other operating costs what do you mean? I don’t know, I have no idea.” - he's either stoned or misleading Evertonians

Do you think they'd be referred to as OOC in said Board meeting though?

Or would they say Travel FFS why we paying Moyes bro a small fortune where are we staying?

How can we reduce the lease costs?

Why are we paying so much on the pitch when its so much synthetic?

It'd all be broken down. I agree they'd have the conversation but I doubt it'd be so vague as to be called OOC.

But then there is a reason most high ranking business people ask for a list of questions in advance these days.

You are implying Moyes first game was better than Martinez's.
Bears no revelence whatso ever , Martinez recorded our best points total ever last season.

With the best squad 90% assembled by Moyes.

Hows it going currently?

Every chairman/board would see the annual financial accounts as presented by their accountants prior to issue. Ridiculous to argue he doesn't know what OOC's are, that he wouldn't ask fellow board members if he didn't, and that if someone asked him about the classification of OOC costs appearing in the accounts at circa £20M every year (even if he is the sort of uber idiot chairman that his fan club ends up suggesting he is with these weird arguments) that he couldn't make the leap to guessing what that £20M refers to.

OOC is a specific accounting term, one every chairman would know.

Good words from Roberto there. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spor...ews/roberto-martinez-says-everton-fcs-8822249

Roberto Martinez concedes it is “unacceptable” for Everton FC to be threatened by relegation but he remains convinced they will pull away from danger. The Blues are 14th in the Premier League table and just six points clear of the bottom three, but Martinez insists the squad is ready to allay fears of the drop. Martinez says he can draw on his experiences with Wigan Athletic, where he faced a yearly fight to survive before being demoted in 2013, to ensure Everton don’t get drawn in to a dogfight.

But the Blues manager says he will be forced to hold a major inquest into the season’s failings after the campaign has ended. “We don’t enjoy this feeling,” Martinez said. “We don’t like being in the table with 28 points. We know the responsibility that we have and we will be ready on Sunday – but that is after tomorrow. “I don’t want to have the easy excuse of saying it is because we are in Europe. “At the club we want to face these demands. “We want to stand up to what is in front of us. “The squad is strong enough to cope with four games in two weeks. That is what we are facing.”

Asked what he would say to those supporters doubting him, Martinez replied: “It is normal when you don’t get results. “You are going to get doubts, worries – that is normal when you share a real passion for the football club. “My view is very clear – I have been in this situation many times. “The best thing you can have in this situation is experience of what is needed to get the squad to perform. “The second is that we don’t look away from the fact we have got a really strong dressing room with a lot of talent. “We can win games and it is as simple as that. We need each other and we need to help each other get the results we need for Everton. “This is the situation I control the most. I finished fifth in the league. I won a trophy. But I have been four years on the trot having to get 36, 37 points in difficult circumstances. “I know the severity of the situation and about not having margin for error. I have been brought up with it. I don’t think that is a problem.“For us as a football club, the position we are in is unacceptable. At the end of the season, we need to look at why it has happened. But for the time being, we need to show a real desire to win.”

Martinez went onto say: “When the team gets a bad scoreline, I am the one who is responsible. I don’t look to blame anyone. “Football is a game of errors and the responsibility is mine. I will always accept that. “I am not going to change now. “The team is performing in a manner that we should have got more points. But the reality is we have got 28 points. “Now every game is a final. There is no time to look elsewhere except look at what we can do to win football games. “The same thing is understanding that we have put a lot of effort into the Europa League. “A football club the size of Everton, we need to look into Europe and be as good as we can. “We can’t look at the league and use it as an excuse to not do as well as we can in the Europa League.”
