Well, the PL as a whole thinks so considering he's like top 10 in aerial challenges won per match by a center back.
Honestly, it's about the only thing he does well.
For the same reasons I don't think Davies should be starting...like 'em both but, due to the position they play, they need both need more time to be consistently effective enough to warrant being a starter. We have a lot of good youth but, for me, they're mostly 'tweeners right now. If we were, alarmingly, in the championship right now it'd be a different story. Both easily make the bench but we're playing for points now and starting 38 games is a tough ask in those positions.
You’re missing the point.
You admit yourself he’s far from the finished article yet half the posters on here would have you believe he will slot straight in and solve all of our problems.... that’s who your numpties are... piling pressure on a 21 year old kid
He's our best centre half though. Admittedly he has absolutely no competition to that accolade but still, he is.
That’s your opinion Tubey... and you’re entitled to it. I think he will develop into a decent player for us but he still has a lot to learn.
His best attribute maybe, but not difficult compared to his others! He's a weak, slow, cumbersome center half who has no attributes whatsoever for a professional athlete/footballer.

I’m not piling any pressure on him. He’s decent right now, nothing more. Having said that I can acknowledge why posters say wish he was fit etc, because despite his age & potential he still walks into our side at CB at this moment in time.
Just don’t agree with your suggestion posters therefore believe he’s another player who all of a sudden think is world class or going to save our CB crisis just because he’s out injured and that’s apparently what we do.
I don’t, nor do many others.
Most fans/ posters I think can see further then that, just think it’s a childish suggestion/ accusation to make.

Agreed. He's still young and improving. We ideally need to bring in 2 new central defenders this summer so Mason can be third choice and continue his development without the pressure of being an automatic starter. At the moment though, he's the only central defender we have who has the pace and ability on the ball to play the way Silva wants from our defence. That's not bigging him up, or gong OTT, or claiming he'll single handidly sort out all our defensive problems. It's just a fact.
There's no doubt though, his availability during the pre season games would have improved our defence, as would the addition of Pickford in goal.
The injury is becoming worrying. Has there been any comments on how long he's out for or what it is.?
