Strange injury for a kid to get. Usually associated with older players. Had it a few times when playing at late 30’s / 40’s. Horrible to get rid of due to the lack of blood flow to the Achilles.

Had it once when I was getting up to speed for footy matches, about the same time of year as he. Kept me out until about October. Walking was beyond painful much less running. Then again, I didn't have anything like Everton physios.

Yeah, I was a taken aback when I saw his injury listed as achilles tendinopathy. Very important to nurture him back to fitness slowly.

Man, our Mason must of been taking his vitamins to recover from a ruptured achilles injury so quickly.
Surprise development, but hopefully we won't be forced into playing him.

Here's a description of the actual (suspected) injury:

Achilles tendinopathy is a condition that causes pain, swelling and stiffness of the Achilles tendon that joins your heel bone to your calf muscles. It is thought to be caused by repeated tiny injuries to the Achilles tendon. These may occur for a number of reasons, including overuse of the tendon - for example, in runners. Treatment includes rest, ice packs, painkillers and special exercises to help to stretch and strengthen the Achilles tendon. For most people, the symptoms of Achilles tendinopathy usually clear within 3-6 months of starting treatment.
