I've always thought hes ok on the ball, but evidently not as good as he thinks.
To me hes not big enough and doesnt concentrate very well. They seem the big weaknesses to me mate.

That's my impression too. Hes not woeful on the ball, but hes just far too casual in his decision making.
He's very poor on the ball, he rarely tries to play the ball forward. Keane and Mina are far better at it.
Lad made a massive error, but on the main he's been good for us, but he chews gum so he's got a bad attitude and must be sold instantly.

Yes our fans don’t deserve such all time greats as Holgate.
He’s badly mediocre and gets a bit of stick on football forums. Same as every player in the world.
Hes not mediocre, hes also not an all-time great.
The lad made an error, it happens to the best of them.
I mean I suggested he would be sold in the summer a few months ago and everybody told me I was mad and he was our best CB.

Think Spurs will snatch him in the summer.... £30m wouldn't be a bad price on current form. He makes latter-day, "take-a-shid at Anfield era" John Stones look world class right now - one contract extension and he thinks he's the next Laporte. Easily the worst player on the pitch in the first half last night by a mile. Defeat was probably a better long-term result than another Arsenal-esque fluke that papers over the cracks.
I know I'm sticking my neck out, but it's Godfrey-Keane for me at centre back. Of course this goes way beyond just Holgate.
New LB and RBs needed badly, we have nothing out wide. Nothing. Just so sick of Digne being bullied time and again on the overlap, every time he gets it, some opposition grock just muscles him out and we lose the ball. Again.
And Coleman needs to can those 'hollywood' shots. Now. To say nothing of his increased immobility.
This is why I think next year is the one where we finally go, there's too much crap, and not enough time needed to get a squad capable of keeping us in the prem another year. Not even Carlo can stop the rot. This is beyond him.

I must have been at different games then Khal because the stick he got for making mistakes was definitely real. He may have had his head turned later by offers....but to be fair who wouldn’t? There’s been threads on here saying they wouldn’t blame ‘X’ or ‘Y’ if they looked to move on the way this team fairs. Why should it be different for Stones?
It’s only a month since the majority were touting Mason for captain.
