Very impressed with him today. He worked hard and was always an option when it got crowded in the middle and got some good balls in. Very solid defensively and was not afraid to get stuck in with a bit of grappling and little digs when needed.

He did very well today , but people trying to shoehorn him into the RB role on a permanent basis are so wrong , we would be losing out on a world class CB for one thing. Next season I would hope to see him as one of our first pick CBs, and ,hopefully Coleman restored to his marauding RB best.

Any CB will do better when they're part of a back three, whilst the full backs receive more of a license to go foward the I feel the defence has more support around then then in a traditional back four. Especially when it was Baines and Coleman as the wingbacks.
I personally feel he can become a super right back, defensively he fantastic. Already a better defender than Coleman. Physically he's a real athlete, a nice size, well balanced, has reasonable endurance and has pace. Athletically and defensively he's really good.
There just needs to still be quite a bit of work done going foward, his crossing has with out a doubt improved and whilst he won't ever have the ability of a Leighton Baines it still needs a lot of addressing. The same can be said with dribbling and understanding when to commit foward.
I'm excited though.

Which is possibly where he will play once Koeman gets HIS squad and isn't hampered by injuries.
World Class CB? He's been quietly impressive but it's clear there's still work to do before anyone should start even considering throwing around big pressure labels like that. And while I agree he's a CB of clear potential he also looks a better RB than Coleman did at that age.

Offensively he's not as impressive as Coleman was when he broke through. Next season I would hope to see him in his true position, CB.
Think if (big if) Koeman gets Keane and VVD then Holgate wont be starting as a CB. I like him as a RB, yes he's not as dynamic as Coleman but its not a requirement for a top full back. Think Holgate is more of a Zabaleta, Azpilicueta mold of RB than a Dani Alves mold that Coleman is - just different styles really. I think as long as he's getting games, he will improve his all round game.

Offensively not a RB but we always look solid when he plays there as defensively he locks that flank down. He played poorly in the cup game v Norwich when Koeman put him in a 2 and since then he's only been in a back 3 or RB. No harm in him deceloping there in my opinion until he's ready to play first choice CB.
