Mason Holgate

You would think Coleman was the greatest attacking right back that's ever lived, the way some are going on.
Coleman delivers about 3 decent crosses in 10. His final ball is nothing special.

If we played a team tomorrow with a brilliant left winger. I'd play Holgate every day of the week

Going forward isn't just shouting crossing. His runs are boss takes defenders out the game, he scores goals... And id play holgate as Well mate Coleman's got a broken leg

But in your previous post you said Holgate's crossing isn't good enough for a full back!

Make your mind up.
I've watched tripier 4 times for Spurs in the last couple of months. And his crossing, passing composure in the final third a class above Coleman.

Holgate needs to be used as a CB in my opinion. Not convinced by his overall play as a full back. Has done a good job there but seems more like a CB for me.

Right back for me until he can head a ball in a challenge. Nothing this season or pre-season has convinced me he can dominate in the air. He may be OK in a 3 at the back CB as long as we are not playing teams that rely on long ball and crossing to big forwards. Not ready yet for me but hopefully in a season or 2.

his crossing isn't good enough to play full back every week though I don't see your point? I also added it's not just about colemans crossing ability, it's his runs and ability to get into the box and score/create goals

made up for you abar trippier though mate get him on the back of your top

He is a CB but isn't ready to play there in a two yet.

He still has a lot to learn positionally.

He's done fine at FB and is more than adequate there. But we need to bring in a proper RB now that Seamus is injured, in order to rotate with Holgate when needed.

Starting to have my doubts about him but anyone filling in for Coleman is going to have a tough time.
His passing in particular today was poor I thought.

Hes an average type of player at the moment whos got potential, but his passing and crossing has not been good....but then that applies to a few players of late

He played great today, but he doesn't provide any space for the attack. This would be fine if we had a true winger ahead of him, but I'm convinced he is a CB. He plays like a ball-playing CB- similar to Stones but better defensively.

I would say he had two brilliant passes in that game. That half volley was magnificent- he has done it before and it looks beautiful. He also had the best cross in the game. Lukaku misread the header and stopped his run when he should have kept with it. I thought it was going to be a goal for sure. Having said that, he doesn't stretch the field enough. I almost want to see what Jonjoe can do in that position.

Seemed to be under instructions not to commit forward in the first half ( or lacked the confidence to do so ).

As others have said, he's never going to be a top class right back, but he'll look much better when he's filled out a bit and is either playing as a centre half or in a back three

Defensively solid today but is not a right back or wing back. Looks awkard past half way line and movement passing crossing will not be good enough to fill in for coleman next season. More like a center back to me. Is that his position? Looks much better on right side of 3 man center back system.
