funny we need a decent keeper as well. this fella a future PL player you reckon?

Maybe but he's only had one season in pro football so it's a little too soon to say, he's quality at our level though, and should be at a higher level, not sure about, premier league just yet. But if he continues to develop as he is he may well be in 2/3 years.

We've got another decent crop coming through too, the only thing is, they're too good for us, we've a 23 year old keeper who's mustard, two 18 year old left back in first team squad one is our regular left back, we've a right back at 17 who's going to be a world beater, Holgate as left who would have been our central defender alongside stonesy had we kept him. We could have had a fantastic defensive unit next season but we just can't keep them long enough to build anything of any note, our academy is too good for our own good of late.

What are their names, strengths/weaknesses and how do they all look in blue?

Seriously though id be fuming if a team had nicked say, Stones, and then come back for Barkley. You've the patience of a saint.

It's not a case of having the patience of a saint, it knowing what we are as a club, and realising these lads are moving on to better themselves, it's the sideways step movers that rankle, we would deserve these young players, if we blocked them moving to clubs like Everton on 5 year deals, I wish we could've just had them a full season to enjoy them a little longer.

Mate is ur keeper u talking about Adam Davies??? We released him a few years back !! But wudnt be like us to release decent players jagielka, baines, mustafi...

Welcome aboard, Mason!

@Magic BFC - man, sorry to raid your side again.

Out of curiosity, do you prefer your players going to a club like Everton over one of the megabucks squads?

FWIW, as an American with no connection to Ingerland outside catching the Blue Flu, I'll be pulling for you guys to get back to Championship.

A Wednesday fan at work day after Ross Barkley made his debut for them and said this lad will be class, he'll be a 20 million pound player one day, he's not come to us because he's not going to be good enough, just because our local club aren't premier league clubs it doesn't mean we can't judge players, we see Chambers, Jenkinson, Jones, Gayle, and others before premier league supporting fans and we can tell if they'll be any good or not, Bale played at the same level as us in his first season for Southampton we all knew he'd be a good un way before them who only watch match of the day.
It´ll be interesting to see if he's as ordinary as suggested.I'll go with RM's gut feeling for the moment.

Yeah to be honest I do for a couple of reasons, Holgate could've gone to Man Utd for status & money and basically chalked fook it on his career, but of biting off more than he can chew he's doing what I think is the right way, he's stayed in north near family who can keep him grounded, and to a club steeped in tradition and a track record of giving youth a genuine chance to succeed, and with the way our club are selling our kids with sell ins we are doing it right by selling to teams like Everton in 4/5 years time third a real chance the England team could have 2/3 players in it that came through the ranks at Oakwell, and it'll be down the way they have managed their development, first team footballer at 18 for 20 odd game then moving to a club who are committed to helping them develop even further, before attracting the likes of Chelsea, I think Tyler Blacket & Paddy McNair have the potential to be top players but they've done it the wrong way if they'd gone down the route Stones had they both be better players today and in the first team in a villa Everton Newcastle Spurs side learning and developing into players team like Chelsea would be trying to buy for £30 million, but they've gone to a top four side too soon.

Who's suggesting he's ordinary? He's a fantastic young prospect. Ordinary players don't play 20 games at 18 years old in a Mr league, and attract the attention of Newcastle,Bournemouth,Swansea,Villa, Man Utd, and Everton pal while doing so, he's a talent no doubt about it.
