Exactly. It made no sense whatsoever going for Byram.
I'm happy the deal failed to go through. That cash will now be spent where it's needed, hopefully.

Played for Barnsley at right back.

Yep. Both broke into the Barnsley team at RB.
Think it's the same deal as this guy.
Only in the same sense as the way John Stones did.
Point remains and I agree with you, that I don't get why we were after right back cover so urgently.

We have more than enough cover (good cover and emergency cover) at RB. I was amazed RM was pursuing Byram.
Best all round that it fell through, imo.
I would have understood the urgency a bit more if:
1) Coleman was out for the season
2) Byram wasn't cup-tied for the City away leg
But yeah, not the end of the world.

As you say: Coleman looking like he's a few weeks away; Oviedo passed fit; Stones has done the job before; Holgate at a pinch.
I cant for the life of me think why Byram (who is far from proven) would have been a target.
Cash towards a second striker makes more sense.
am hoping it was simply cos it was a good deal and we are a bit light in that area, shows theres at least some money available
maybe martinez is looking to sell coleman in the summer
Safe to say there's at least £3.7m laying about. Unless we were paying on the drip. Which we probably were.
