He's done fantastically well in pre season, an exciting prospect .... but , and there are a few.
Last season for the u21s he made at least two high profile mistakes which cost vital goals, easy to shrug that off , all young defenders make mistakes , it's part of the learning process ,he's still 19 but such mistakes at PL level would see him crucified by fans , and put his manager at risk. He's still to play any PL minutes at all. Despite appearing on the bench as cover for RB at one time , eventually Connolly, Pennington and Kenny got PL minutes ahead of him in that position. He's formed a great CB partnership with Galloway when they've played together, but for me Galloway has looked the more composed and advanced. In Holgate's favour is that he is a right sided CB , with possibly more opportunities available than Galloway who supposedly will be off out on loan. It really depends if Koeman 's. " we need 4 CBs " results in one more signing .
Repeating again , he's still only 19 , plenty of time for him to develop under Koeman's guidance with maybe a loan deal in January for the tail end of the season. A great prospect just needs time to develop at his own pace ..... without the Stones comparisons.
