Mason Holgate

I am absolutely convinced this lad is going to be a far better player than Stones. Looks far more assured already plus he can head a ball, which is handy for a centre back.
I agree.
I think it may have been advantage to him coming to Everton at a younger age than Stones. I find it hard to believe as well that he is 6' 3" already.

I do think he may well be ahead of John Stones yet in the international team. He just looks like a really good player.
Koeman seems really impressed and I think he is not an easy man to impress.

Had no idea this lad was 6'3", but in fairness everyone looks small standing next to Zlatan lol

Koeman looks to rate him highly - hopefully he plays a big part this season and as he can play RB it might mean we don't need to buy cover for Coleman.

The noises coming out of FF is that Holgate is at least a good a prospect as Stones if not better.
hope so, different qualities stones better on the ball makes some decent last ditch challenges, Holgate more aggressive and looks to be growing into an impressive athlete, better in the air as well, and seem not as prone to losing players behind him as Stones seems to be prone to.

If holgate makes it that's stones, Dier, Mustafi we have had on our books at some point scouts will just follow our CB signings

He's done fantastically well in pre season, an exciting prospect .... but , and there are a few.
Last season for the u21s he made at least two high profile mistakes which cost vital goals, easy to shrug that off , all young defenders make mistakes , it's part of the learning process ,he's still 19 but such mistakes at PL level would see him crucified by fans , and put his manager at risk. He's still to play any PL minutes at all. Despite appearing on the bench as cover for RB at one time , eventually Connolly, Pennington and Kenny got PL minutes ahead of him in that position. He's formed a great CB partnership with Galloway when they've played together, but for me Galloway has looked the more composed and advanced. In Holgate's favour is that he is a right sided CB , with possibly more opportunities available than Galloway who supposedly will be off out on loan. It really depends if Koeman 's. " we need 4 CBs " results in one more signing .
Repeating again , he's still only 19 , plenty of time for him to develop under Koeman's guidance with maybe a loan deal in January for the tail end of the season. A great prospect just needs time to develop at his own pace ..... without the Stones comparisons.
