I've been running this through my mind.
Get maximum points from the supposed three worse clubs than us then I'm sure we'll get the other eighteen I reckon we'll need to be safe for this season. Then repeat for another two terms and we stride into BMD still breathing and out of intensive care.
I just hope that, that's not the "best" we can expect but I guess stability may be the prerequisite for a couple of seasons.

And with no half decent players as all the better ones will all be away well before then.

Do pre-season friendlies mean something or not? To me, they're meaningless. That doesn't mean there aren't things in them that give us hope/cause us worry, but they aren't a proper match. Next Saturday, is very different, however, as it will likely set the tone for the entire season.

With Ward Prowse supposedly off to Villa and Ings already gone, put it this way, there won't be a better opportunity for Benitez to scrape three points next Saturday. Those three points could be the most important he'll win.
