Transfer Rumour Maximillian James Aarons

I have often read that a 50% success rate with signings, in the football world is seen as a successs.
I’d go with that. To highlight this for example take Steve Walsh (this isn’t advocating the man, I hate him more than most); taking into account what he did at Leicester and Everton he probably has a slightly better success rate than 50% despite ruining a club for years. Steve Walsh will continue to be employed

The same could be said of Godfrey last summer.

Aarons: 21 in Jan and played 115 league games in Premier league and the Championship.

Godfrey: 22 when we signed him had played 66 games in Premier league and the Championship.

Emerson (Betis/Barca) would have been my RB choice. Then of course i was amazed by Lamptey's breakthrough and attacking play.

But Aarons would be the 'safer' option as he has the Premier league, Championship and England U21 experience.

He's been playing with Godfrey and Davies so Brands/Ancelotti will have some insights to his character and also how he compares/complements them on the field.

If the fee is £35mil then perhaps we can lower it by giving them Kenny or loaning them one or two players (Gomes/Iwobi) ?

I think he's a no brainer at this point.
There is absolutely no way Gomes or Iwobi go to Norwich

Oh he likes players all right
Lookman and Iwobi spring to mind
I am sure he has stats and heat maps to back up his likes as well :celebrate::celebrate::celebrate:
It's funny because Lookman would probably be our best winger right now. I say that because I don't really consider James or Richarlison to be wingers. Just wild how it has gone for us and him. And I'm not even sure he's that good, although he's in a team that is hard to attack in.

I'm sure there will be at least one signing that I'm fully behind this summer. There has to be right?

Would be completely out of character.

Lookman had the talent but never settled here
We can all speculate as to why but it never worked out here
Same as Vlasic
I think this summer experience (25-30 )will be the order of the day again with the one or two young signings being for the academy /under 23s
Aarons may be the exception but I do not rate him as highly as others do and hope we go for a slightly more experienced cheaper option
A factor no one mentions is we have no cover at LB unless we move Godfrey out from him preferred position
30 yr old LB on a free or min fee on average wages for 2-3 seasons to see if Nkounkou can step up would be ideal

Would be completely out of character.
It would also be out of character for Everton to pursue a strategy I agree with so that makes it hard.

I'm also still recovering from the summer of 2018 where I thought all the signings were amazing and at best three worked.

I don't think there is anything to speculate on anymore myself but you guys can keep acting like it is a mystery if you want.

Nkounkou is ready to be a backup now for me, Carlo doesn't trust him so I guess that is that. But signing another LB is probably not something we really should be wasting money and a squad spot on.

We can go for experience again but every summer we do that just increases the pressure to break through into the top four and we are currently not that close to the level of those teams even if points wise we aren't doing terribly. Aarons is kind of both, he's played enough games to play now and still could get better, so that is good. The questions for me aren't about the type of signing if we get him as it is what I like to see. Rather whether he's actually good is where I'm concerned. Developing from bad to average doesn't really help us any. I like Davies but it is sort of what he's done to this point. Now if he takes another step that will be helpful but it isn't guaranteed.

Davies is not a player that any of the top 4 would have in their squad
We sometime overestimate how good our young players are
Foden ,Mount ,Maddison ,Tielemans Greenwood etc is who we should be judging Davies against and he is miles behind them

That's what I'm saying, he needs to take another step forward to even get close.

Aarons I feel might be where Davies was before this year. A step up in his play would still put him at pretty average.

Lookman wanted out.
