I saw on the youtube clip that he scored from a free kick outside the box and from a couple of inswinging corners with his left peg. How many he wasted , I've no idea.

I've said this before but I don't really think stats are useful for defenders.
But if we are going to do this we should probably not use "he had the most clearances" because that's a function of playing almost every game in a team that sets their defensive line in their own box in all of them and not necessarily his skill level. Which is why I don't think the stats are useful. A lot of what a CB does is dependent on everyone else.
You always dismiss stats when they tell a different tale than you wish to tell.

And I get your point, but surely when the players play for the same team, other factors shouldnt matter?

It's just a situation where the cause of Tarkowski having these stats is Burnley not him. The other players on the list per 90 minutes are Mee and Collins.
And it isn't dismissing stats it's understanding context. Football isn't simple enough to boil down to one number. They're a part of the equation not the whole thing.

I'm happy enough with Cornet. He scored some excellent goals last season which is surely testament to how well he can strike the ball.
Perhaps we think he can play right-wing and are buying him to play there, despite him playing on the left for most of his career. It would be great to have a player that can go ways in our attack, Townsend is the only one we have and his unpredictability was a positive in the early part of last season.

So what metric are you using to determine that Collins was better than Tarks last season?
I assume you watched all 38 Burnley games?

I'm using the metric where they both did the exact same things at more or less the same level. The post said he was much better and he wasn't they're basically the same. But one is 22 and might be able to play a non-Burnley system.

But the stats clearly indicate that Tarks performed better over all metrics.

No not clearly mate, it's like decimal places.
Except you're just doing the counting stats where he has a ton more because he played more. So you think it's clearly because you're unfamiliar with division. It's whatever.
It's fine, I give it until Christmas for the first posts about how we "Everton'd" Tarkowski when the real Everton trait is overrating average players.
