Having watched a clip of his from last season, one alarming thing I’m taking away is how Burnley seemed to create more/better chances for their attackers than we did.

Don't disagree lwith the thrust of your post, but the Burnley guys would be moving from a dreadful team to a poor one here, so not exactly a revolution in the quality of surrounding players, really.

I do believe our players are better than was shown last season.

I don't think Burnley had players of the quality Pickford ,Mykolenko, Mina, DCL and Gordon.

We would also expect a lot more from Patterson,Godfrey, Doucoure.

As well we will have to wait and see which Iwobi we have this season.

….I can’t say I’m overly keen on this signing but another left footer will be a big addition to the squad. Often last season, Pickford was the only one on the team sheet & any team looks better balanced with a few lefties.

One plus for me is he's a goal scorer not prolific but one in three which in our team is badly needed.
