Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Mrs J is hosting the Christmas meal for all the volunteers at the animal rescue charity shop tonight.

How strange having a Christmas do in November!

Anyway just me and the dogs in tonight so I can watch some rubbish film that Mrs J would otherwise turn her nose up at.......choices , choices .

Unfortunately got to cook my own tea. That's not a problem but hate cooking for just me. Suspect I will be lazy and do sausage and chips!

Honestly being vegetarian we normally eat very good nutritional stuff , you do believe me don't you?

As strange as having a Holiday parade before even Thanksgiving occurs, that’s what happened at my city last weekend

Of course we believe you, Jazzy. But my question is whether today’s sausage is also vegetarian? Or are you taking advantage that Mrs. J is not there to eat some real meat ;)

Of course the sausages are vegetarian.

I haven't touched meat for over 21 years.

Occasionally I am a naughty boy and eat fish.

You good boy! X

What brand of veggie sausage do you use? My daughter is venturing into vegetarianism and she likes sausage but the last ones I got she didn’t like them much.
Veggie sausages are a difficult topic Sassy.

I like Quorn but my wife prefers Linda McCartney.

Recently we tried and both really liked Heck veggie sausages ( they mostly make meat ones that are award winning and my mum loves).

No idea if any of these products are available in the USA.

if you are tempted to try it , veggie sausage Cassoulet is wonderful.

I'm treating Mrs J to veggie tacos on Friday. That and spicy bean casserole she tolerates from me. Otherwise I'm not allowed in the kitchen , which is fine because she's a great cook. So I just concentrate on the wine....works well.

Hahaha. That’s right, Fred. Now I’m gonna have to stalk @blue1948 about his sauna secrets ;) and you better post Cal’s beef stew recipe too or you will be next lol
Just posted in your recipe thread Sass. ;)

Enjoy your Thanksgiving meal tomorrow. Not too sure about the pumpkin pie but I'd be all over the turkey. I like a bit of leg. lol

Good evening everybody. Hope you are all well. @Reedy1979 Thanks for the update. Had a lovely catch up with my friend at lunch time. His poor Mum is still in hospital and unfortunately has a water infection, as well as two small fractures at the base of her spine from her fall, which has sent her a bit crazy. He did make me smile though - apparently his Mum ( aged 96) is convinced that the ward is a brothel and she is being pestered by men who want sex with older ladies!

@Sassy Colombian Hope the cooking goes well. I'm sure it will. Question, if you eat turkey at Thanksgiving what is the meal of choice for the US at Christmas? More turkey or something else. I was going to try a goose this year (no giggling please!) but then I keep thinking what if it's horrible and our Christmas dinner is rubbish. Might buy a duck as well as a turkey and do crispy duck and pancakes at some point over the Christmas period.

have a lovely evening everybody x

Larbert, In-between Glasgow and Edinburgh in the Central belt, although small we have a mainline rail station so we have good access to the cities.
I feel like a right nobhead now. Just to prove I'm not stupid I thought I'd google Larbert, you know just to make sure that it wasn't that obvious. I'd not heard of it tbh but used to be a regular visitor to Scotland and have been all over the place. The only Larberts that came up were in USA and Australia.

Just realised that I googled Lambert by mistake. lol

Sausages in general are a difficult topic even among meat eaters lol

I’m going to check out the brands you’ve mentioned here and see if can find them here in my city.

Veggie tacos sound tasty, have a lovely dinner with Mrs. J

Thanks, Fred for the recipe. I look forward to making it soon, that’s the type of hearty dishes I like to cook during the cold months.

The main thing with the Turkey is not overcooking it, nothing worse than a dry turkey. I’m sure you like the legs, is that what you used to tell Cal to flatter her ;)

Apparently the Greggs sausage rolls are lovely - although you don't have a Greggs locally! lol

Ange, that’s great that you got to see your friend and now you’ve also make me laugh with his mum’s ward story. Which brought to mind a tell my hubby told me this week about his 97 year old grandma being switched to a new ward and the male nurse was telling her that he needed to take her pic, and she answered if he wanted her in clothes of naked. What’s up with all these sex talk among the old ladies lol

For Christmas is usually a baked ham, or traditional Colombia food such as tamales or arroz con pollo. It all depends if we are gathering with more of the Colombian family or the American family. It is definitely no turkey, we only bake it for the Thanksgiving Holiday.
