Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Thanks, Fred for the recipe. I look forward to making it soon, that’s the type of hearty dishes I like to cook during the cold months.

The main thing with the Turkey is not overcooking it, nothing worse than a dry turkey. I’m sure you like the legs, is that what you used to tell Cal to flatter her ;)
I went into the butchers the other day and asked if he had turkey legs, he said " No, it's just the way I walk"
I'll get me coat.

I feel like a right nobhead now. Just to prove I'm not stupid I thought I'd google Larbert, you know just to make sure that it wasn't that obvious. I'd not heard of it tbh but used to be a regular visitor to Scotland and have been all over the place. The only Larberts that came up were in USA and Australia.

Just realised that I googled Lambert by mistake. lol
You wouldn't want to visit the RS Ricky of the Lambert variety Fred.

Rub it in! Maybe next year if we make it to the UK I can try Gregg’s sausage rolls too.
It's really not recommended. A few years ago I took some Dutch friends to an Everton game. I suggested that we visit the Goodison Supper Bar for some pre game food ( Sassy some of us call it a nosebag , just one more of those lovely phrases you will learn )They ordered a sausage dinner and the look on their faces when it was given to them was a picture matched only by their grimace when they started to eat it.

I dunno ....no mayonnaise...you know these Dutch guys.

Actually they had no idea how bloody lucky they were ....it was Everton v Arsenal and they were about to witness the birth of a football genius....young Wayne.

Goodnight everyone.

Jazzy are you trying to tell me that @d34noj is trying to lead me towards the wrong sausage? shame on him lol Btw, nosebag doesn’t sound like a very appealing term so I’m not even going to ask how the term came to be.

Dear @messymascot i noticed you peeked this evening at your thread. It’s always comforting to notice you had the strength to stop by.

I’m super tired. It was a very busy day and night but everything is ready to be put in the oven tomorrow once we get to my
mum’s house. She is preparing the other part of the meal but I was responsible for the turkey, sweet potato casserole, gravy, bread stuffing, asparagus and pumpkin pie.

Here is a pic of the pumpkin pie. Do you like pie? Do you have a favorite one?

Night, night. Xo

Morning all ,hope you all had a good night and are fit to bursting today ,mostly I hope all those with problems have a better day than yesterday especially Messy and I hope he has the strength to post .
It is little Christmas here this weekend which means we have a small tree ,there is no doubting Finnish logic !

For the foodies we have gammon in a roasting bag in the oven with Mashed potato sweetened with honey, carrot and turnip mashed with honey and garden peas .These are served after we have had pickled herrings and cured salmon along with salmon roe , sour cream and chopped raw onion.

What was wrong with the salmon. Had it been ill?

Good evening everybody. Hope you are all well. @Reedy1979 Thanks for the update. Had a lovely catch up with my friend at lunch time. His poor Mum is still in hospital and unfortunately has a water infection, as well as two small fractures at the base of her spine from her fall, which has sent her a bit crazy. He did make me smile though - apparently his Mum ( aged 96) is convinced that the ward is a brothel and she is being pestered by men who want sex with older ladies!

@Sassy Colombian Hope the cooking goes well. I'm sure it will. Question, if you eat turkey at Thanksgiving what is the meal of choice for the US at Christmas? More turkey or something else. I was going to try a goose this year (no giggling please!) but then I keep thinking what if it's horrible and our Christmas dinner is rubbish. Might buy a duck as well as a turkey and do crispy duck and pancakes at some point over the Christmas period.

have a lovely evening everybody x
Goose is delicious, Ange. It has a much larger frame than turkey so not as much meat but definitely something you should tri, in my humble opinion. As you suggest maybe do another meat or two as a back up.
