Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Folks, I mentioned in previous posts that my dear sister was battling pancreatic cancer. Sadly, despite intensive chemo and r/therapy, we got bad news today that it has now spread to organs and her bones, and treatment is being stopped. Thank God she has a strong faith and a very positive outlook.

She realised a lifetime ambition to get to the Centre Court in Wimbledon this year for a few days.

Those of you that have a faith, please keep her in your prayers that she remains calm and pain free. She is in an excellent Palliative Care Unit in Dublin where the care has been just wonderful.

I am going to see her in the morning - she is an Evertonian too, and we went to some matches together with Mrs and Miss BR over the years. She is a huge fan of our Seamus, and she also was thrilled to meet Fellaini on one trip - he was staying in the same hotel.

She has had a a good life, albeit 64 is too young.

God Bless.
This is so sad, way too young. My thoughts are with you all and I hope you get comfort from your faith 💙

So saddened to read this. Best wishes BR

I might do the same myself tomorrow. I have most of it done - on the road-side, but I need to attack the stuff on the garden side. It is laurel, and tough stuff, but I have a good petrol trimmer and a chain saw where necessary.
Mine is just privet hedge however it is about 8ft tall and all in all about 140ft long. While not that hard to cut it, it’s very time consuming and requires good music to keep me going!

Morning everyone,

Spent yesterday helping Mrs J in the charity shop.
She was absolutely made up with the takings of £380 whilst she dealt with stock in the back room and treated me to a vegetable chow mein on the way home - we know how to live it up , we even had chips with it!

It's amazing what some people do in the shop. Just because it's a charity shop they seem offended when I refuse to accept a reduced offer and perplexed when I ask if they request a reduced price at Boots.

Didnt see any shop lifters but who knows?

A very nice dealer came in and was interested in a silver cigarette box that fortunately I had researched for Mrs J. So I went into full Bargain Hunt expert mode " vacant cartouche, great condition, crisp hallmarks showing 1928 Birmingham, nice engine turning and deco style" . Seemed to work as I got £95 for it.

The shop is opposite onstreet parking including a number of disabled slots. On 2 occasions I noticed parking inspectors give tickets to massive 4x4s presumably parked without blue cards. Unbelievable.

We regularly get visits from footballers wives who donate some really nice ( well expensive , some is tasteless).

Anyway I was knackered when I got home , surprising how a perma smile and being nice to everyone takes it out of you.

So, @Barnfred 55 not long to go now before your epic journey. Should be absolutely fantastic.

Housework day today and then cutting some grass this afternoon. No rest for the wicked.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Morning all, bright and sunny this morning with showers later, again.
@jazzy great result at the charity shop. All those hours watching BH weren’t wasted lol Charles Hanson has a feature on Twitter, he posts a picture of a charity shop shelf with a “hidden gem” . I often wonder whether he tells the staff the true value. In the past I used to help run a jumble stall on Pboro market in aid of our local school. To keep things simple everything on the stall was 20p, it was pretty good quality stuff not any old tat so really good value even so some people used to haggle asking for buy 2 get one free or if I fill a bag do I get it cheaper? I’m pretty sure quite a lot was “lifted” as well.
Not sure what to get up to today as Mr G. off painting again, probably involve a trip to the shop, doesn’t matter how many times I shop, we’ve always run out of something.
Have a good day, all.💙

Good morning all, well the adjustment to my specs worked and I am now in full HD (well most of the time). Bit of housework for me today as I have my lovely friend Jen coming up from London to stay for the weekend, as it is my future daughter in law’s hen do tomorrow and we’re off to Manchester for the day/night. I have the dubious honour of being the oldest hen - or more of an old broiler maybe - so let’s see how it goes 😂😂.
Good work in the shop @jazzy - sounds like you get some good stuff in and all for a great cause.
have a good day everyone 💙
