Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

My daughter and granddaughter lived with us for nine/ten years, it was wonderful. They now live a few miles away and we used to pick her up from school and take her home. When the Alzheimer’s took a hold of my wife my daughter started picking her daughter up to take a bit of pressure off me. I’ve had to tell her that I really miss seeing my granddaughter and my grandson these last few months so I will be picking her up again from now on. We have lovely conversations, where my granddaughter tells me everything I need to know about life, kids know everything, and it’s been killing me missing out on these…….
Conversations with children are better than therapy,. Good to hear you will be able to pick up your granddaughter and have your conversations again.

Oh that's lovely. I bet she has been missing you picking her up from school too.

Just been on FaceTime to grandkid no.3. who’s 10. She said she would sing me her favourite song of the moment which went something along the lines of “killing my ex”. Conversation went :
Hannah: Do you like that song?
Me:Well I’ve never heard it before but No the words aren’t very nice.
Hannah: I suppose they didn’t have songs like that when you were young.
Me: No they didn’t, I think that music was much better than it is now.
Hannah: I bet you’re glad you’re not alive now then.
Sounds like Kill Bill by Sza. The lyrics are actually quite chilling over what is quite a sweet melody 😀

Evening all, lots of good weekends all round for different reasons by the sounds of it. I’ve had a lovely day today catching up with some NHS work colleagues from a good few years ago - lots of laughs and reminiscing and not a drop of alcohol in sight.
Just settling down for quiz night on BBC2 🧠 . Enjoy your evening 💙
