Have you been to the oldest sweet shop in Pately Bridge? They do all sorts of sweets from years ago. We used to refer to sweets as “toffee” whatever type they were. Must have been a sign.

Do they sell uncle Joe's Mint Balls?
A staple Wigan diet if I remember my days of visiting Wigan County Court correctly.

Even the usher would offer you one as you go into the judge's chamber.

Of course the worst thing you could do was accept and stuff it in your mouth just before addressing the judge......I've seen that once!

You’re doing it all wrong. It’s our mission in life to spread the English language far and wide, so do what we all do, speak in English but slightly raise your voice. Repeat slightly louder if needed. It works all over the world, you’ll thank me for this life advice……

There’s a great bar/restaurant called Bodegas Castañeda on Calle Almireceros ( google maps helped me out there ), it’s not far from the cathedral.
