Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

A photo of the bird/s if you can please ,when I kept them a parakeet was different from a budgie but we all know you have different names than us ,
I'll do what I can Blue, but the BUDGIES (lol I see you @jazzy) are quick! Hope you have a great time at the match @Val P

You know @paultheblue I never thought to accuse the pets when socks go missing, but it's SO obvious! I have a dog and 2 cats, so I'm off to look for where they're hiding their loot!

I talk to all of my pets like they are people. I also talk to my horse like that and all of his friends, too lol

I'm enjoying the warm Autumn weather right now. I have chorest to do and errands to run today.

Have a great day all!!

I thought a wee bit about posting this, as it can be difficult for me to get the balance right in the writing.

Today would have been the 7th birthday of my Grandson Harris. When Harris was born he was very poorly with leukaemia, hyrdrops, anaemia and Down Syndrome. But he was a wee warrior and fought amazingly hard as doctors from all over the country provided input on such an unusual combination in a new born. Sadly he only survived for seven days, but he had a huge impact on everybody who came into contact with him and the way he fought to overcome his illnesses.

The loss of a Grandchild was compounded by the sorrow I also felt for my daughter and son in law in their loss. But we all moved forward in our own ways. Harris is my running buddy. With the Down Syndrome connection I run in “ odd socks” so he’s always with me when I run and we go on running adventures together , some of which I’ve written up into stories. These are read to Harris’s sister and brother who came after him and my daughter ensures they too keep his memory alive.

Six years ago, my daughter arranged for “ Harris‘s Heroes “ t-shirts for me, her and her two brothers and we all ran a half marathon together in his memory. I’ve worn that T-shirt a few times, including at this year’s London Marathon , although this time I had a running vest on top with “I’m running with Harris‘s Heroes. LondonMarathon 2023 “ on the back. Also printed on the back for each mile was the name of an individual baby sadly taken too soon , so at each mile I ran with a different baby , a bit like a relay for the 26 miles. The parents of the babies were contacts my daughter had made through SANDS, and wanted to have their baby remembered in this way. My abiding memory of that day is of running down The Mall with Harris , a huge smile on my face and imagining 25 other babies joining in hand in hand with us across the Mall for those final yards.

And we continue to hold Harris’s memory dear, and I continue to have my adventures with Harris . We all came through those desperate times , a bit sadder but a bit stronger too and my daughter and son in law continue to use the phrase “ Don’t Cry because it’s over; Smile because it Happened”

What an unbelievably traumatic time for your family to have gone through, but what an amazing legacy you have created with the books for his brother and sister, and running the marathons in this way. So touching, my thoughts are with you and your family you are all incredibly strong 💙

Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I'm sure that Harris is with you every minute of the day.

Your story has touched my heart!! You and your family have overcome the tragic passing of your beloved Harris and also made a difference in the lives of so many others in a similar situation. You are an inspiration! God Bless you! 💙

Bless her, I am finding the ruling on XL bullies unbearable tbh

You don't want to be in the same room as Mrs J right now.

She is the personification of feisty Irish redhead at the moment .

I think many dog lovers would agree. Unfortunately these dogs are sometimes owned by people who are not fit to own a dog and there is no doubt that some can cause serious injury both to other dogs, children and adults. Personally I think they should be banned having read some of the injuries caused, but tbh I can’t say I’ve even seen one in our villages and towns….
