Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

I used to love driving up and down the motorways day or night. But the standard of driving has fallen tbh and I really don’t like driving at night, none of my friends do either. It’s not eyesight but could be age but probably the idiots who now inhabit the roads……
You’re so right, the standard is so low these days, no courtesy and what really does my head in are the people who leave it until the last minute to move over to leave the motorway making everyone brake. Only 10 years ago it was different I used to love driving up or down the motorway with my music on and found it relaxing - music’s still on but not relaxing any more.

Good morning all on the frosty day here in HyvinkƤƤ .A white covering this morning for us .I hope all are well and had a good night's sleep .Wife is off out for highlights so has left me a list of jobs -no rest for the wicked .
You would love it here @Val P ,we have no street lights within 8 miles so driving is a little guesswork as we dont have kerbs or cat's eyes either ,we do have ditches for the less accurate !
Stay safe and strong all.COYB

Ah, the reassure of a roadside ditch to calm your driving nerves.

Some of the roads round here through the fens are long and straight but due to the fen shrinking, the surface is very bumpy so it’s more like riding a rollercoaster, they also have drainage ditches running along their length. It’s not a pleasant experience for the faint hearted particularly at night. Another one to avoid the road alongside the River Nene :

Morning chums,

Still suffering badly from my cold. Well at least I know it's that now as I found an old COVID test kit and I'm negative - who'd have thought that ?

Despite no COVID this cold is awful gone onto my chest now and I have a terrible hacking cough like I've smoked 20 a day all my life when in reality I've never ever smoked.

Indeed it's so bad that I've cancelled my 2 games of table Tennis this week and not been to the gym for days.

I moved 3 bales of hay yesterday and was knackered and had to sit down for an hour lol .

Anyway Debi has been and gone. Most of the bananas are in one piece but the fleeces protecting even more tender shrubs has blown away. I've no near neighbours so they could be anywhere!
Anyway the chickens and goats are all fine.

Could only wave to mum through the window as I don't want her catching this.

Have a lovely day everyone.

Not one for the drunken drivers !

Hi folks, a very rainy day today but I think we have got off lightly compared to some parts of the country. We haven't had any really bad winds. Hope you are feeling better @jazzy . I used to love driving long distances and quite enjoyed the drive from here to Liverpool - especially up and down the M6 which is a lovely route. However, there are far too many idiots on the road these days and most of them are lorry drivers. There was a horrific crash on the A1 junction near where we live a couple of years ago in which three people were killed. The lorry driver had been on his phone and hadn't noticed the traffic had slowed doen and ploughed into the queue. Very very sad. Durham police made a film about the incident to try and highlight the danger of mobile phone use. you can watch it on youtube but if you watch it be warned, it isn't for the faint-hearted but it is a very powerful piece.

Went to see my mate in hospital this afternoon. When coming back from the centre of Leicester it took ages to get home. Couple of things I noticed en route, it was dark, teenagers dressed all in black and hoods riding bikes with no lights on and totally ignoring any rules of the road. It’s amazing that they are not killed tbh. Then outside of the city the intensity of some car lights is positively blinding. It was ok for me but I thought that others would struggle. By the time I got near our village I thanked god that we live where we do and don’t have to put up with the daily crap that City folk have to……….
