Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Good morning all on this sleety day here in Finland .I hope all are well after a good night .I hope the wife isn't too bad @jazzy and gets over it a little quicker than you .It would be nice to hear from @Terrarian again .
The Jag steering lock isn't ! It seems a bit of a job as well but a little fiddling with the key can bring great results -if you are one of the lucky ones!
Tomorrow we are making Leipäjuusto which is a Finnish traditional food ,best described as a squeaky cheese that is eaten with sea buckthorn berry jam although we prefer mixed fruit jam . Pictures may follow as it has to be eaten warm and I have to run to our neighbours with half of it !
Have a great day all COYB

Morning everyone,

Still feel like poo but I think I am getting better

Still no energy and a slight headache but the hacking cough has turned into a cough where I am easily able to bring up mucus without straining which is what my body has been doing up to now ( I actually typed hitherto but thought that sounded too lawyery and pretentious lol).

Sorry if you haven't had your breakfast!

Talking of breakfast I must be feeling a bit better because for the first time in days I was motivated to get up at 7am.and make Mrs Js porridge.

I'm not kidding myself though. There's no way I could go to the gym or play my scheduled table tennis game tonight.

Instead I think that I will watch the cricket WC semi final. Unfortunately I think it will be a bit one sided in favour of India.

I thought I might cheer myself up by buy the remixed and new Beatles LPs but honestly £220 for 6 lps is scandalous even if they are half speed masters.

Anyway have a lovely day everyone.

Went to see my mate in hospital this afternoon. When coming back from the centre of Leicester it took ages to get home. Couple of things I noticed en route, it was dark, teenagers dressed all in black and hoods riding bikes with no lights on and totally ignoring any rules of the road. It’s amazing that they are not killed tbh. Then outside of the city the intensity of some car lights is positively blinding. It was ok for me but I thought that others would struggle. By the time I got near our village I thanked god that we live where we do and don’t have to put up with the daily crap that City folk have to……….
Leicester was a regular destination for shopping and we always travelled by car, easy to get to and convenient parking. The last time we went (after a gap of some years) the road layouts had completely changed, it was a nightmare, now we go by train, lot less stressful. As to the cyclists dressed in black etc. you can add electric scooters into the mix, not just on the roads on the pavement too.

Good afternoon everybody. Glad you are feeling a bit better @jazzy . Couldn't agree more @peteblue and @Gwladysover . Cyclists dressed in black with no.lights are a curse.
I've had a very productive morning- gym at 7 after I dropped Mr F off , washed all the towels and then did the weekly shop. So now I'm watching the cricket world cup with very healthy prawn salad lunch. I know I've said it before but I would love to go and watch a cricket match in India. The atmosphere is crazy.
Have a lovely day everyone x

Hi All!

I'll be saying some healing prayers for you and Mrs. J @jazzy ! Yes, please post pics of your dish @blue1948 It sounds yummy! I've been thinking about @Terrarian too. Stop in and say "Hi!" my friend. :)

About drivers, yeah they are crazy here, too ( I mean more than normal) I think people are stressed with the economy and things costing so much more, etc.

It's been controlled chaos the past few days, but seems like it's calm for the moment! lol I finished all of the paperwork that work required by Friday night and then I've been prepping for my Mom's visit. She arrived yesterday. I was worried about the trip to the airport with all of the F1 fans showing up, but surprisingly it wasn't busy at all, so I lucked out! I also spotted the GIANT sphere for the first time. I ended up in one of the those "must turn here" lanes and BOOM there it was in front of me. It's so odd to see it in person, looks otherworldly, but still cool I guess.

Have a great day everyone!

Look after yourselves- if it’s the same thing I had a couple of weeks ago it definitely lingers - I still feel knackered and a bit tight of chest- so don’t expect a quick recovery

Afternoon all, just back from a work trip to Lancaster - I’m beginning to see the benefits of Teams as a way of working.
That said although I had a car full of stuff worthy of an arctic expedition it was a very clear and uneventful trip up and down the M6, with a bonus of there being a Booths near the hospital. However this meant I once again bombed my diet as I bought some Stollen for me and Mr P. I can’t seem to get in the mindset for gym and diet since I’ve had this virus but I’m going to have to soon.

Evening each, bittersweet visit to my friend this morning. Amongst the items brought down from her loft the other day she had found her diary for 1964, the year she lost her Mum. She was reluctant to read it when she was alone so was waiting for me so we could go through it together. She was not aware of how poorly her Mum was and the daily entries read with hindsight are heartbreaking- for instance Dad made my breakfast and cooked dinner again. The pages for the week of her Mum’s passing were missing although she has no recollection of tearing them out. There were some laughs along the way though - for her birthday I had brought her some bath cubes ( who remembers them?) and a pair of china corgis which she named Bangers and Mash and in October we were both in detention for wearing our berets incorrectly. lol

Oh that’s lovely to do together and I’m sure she felt so supported having you there to talk about sad and happy times. Bath cubes - now there’s a memory- always sandy on the bottom of the bath, the predecessor of bath bombs.
