So sad, even now when I see the sheep in the lorries on the motorway I tell myself they’re going on holiday and I hate it if one of them makes eye contactOh no! A long time ago we lived in Nigeria for a couple of years. I was aged 5 ish. I started school there. My Dad got a job in Lagos port so off we went. It was very colonial - we had a cook, a house boy (shocking phrase) and a gardener. For quite a while there was a little black goat wandering around the place where we lived. I made friends with him , named him Billy ( very original!) and took him for walks with a piece of string tied round his neck. Billy inexplicably went missing one day. I was an adult when my Mum told me that Billy had been the main course to celebrate a religious festival the Nigerians had!
