Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Prices now are a joke...priced a recent gig (not even an experienced act);US $240 per ticket for decent (not even great) seats.

Not a chance in hell I'm paying that to be surrounded by people gawking on their phones.
It's the only reason I do overtime - so we can afford to do nice things. I think this new on demand ticket pricing is a complete rip off and I was sad that Bruce agreed to it with the comment that everybody else is. It seemed like a sellout of his values.

Good morning all. I'll be honest. It wasn't my best Springsteen experience. Nothing to do with The Boss who was as awesome as ever. The E Street Band are sublime musicians and the atmosphere was amazing. The weather though - hours of relentless rain, cold, wet and miserable. Im definitely too old to be standing pitch side! I did say to Mr F before The Boss came on, that had it not been for the ticket prices I would have gone home hours ago. However "Sunderland, this is for you" Huge grin and opened with Waitin' On a Sunny Day. He's definitely got a sense of humour 🤣. His songs still touch my soul like nobody else's do.
Today is all about weddings. Heading to Nottingham soon. My beautifully styled barnet is wrecked due to yesterday's monsoon!
Have a great day x
Shame about the weather but seeing The Boss always creates new memories. I debated about going to Sunderland but decided against it , I’ve still got got memories from last years Hampden concert frequently coming back …….goes off singing chorus of Badlands …🙂

Mixed feelings here, life-long Labour voter but I really can’t stand Keir Starmer.
Likewise. I'm very disillusioned.
Vote for the party and the policies not the individual. I’m sick of hearing about it already, even though I am very interested it’s just media overkill. Thank god I am out of the country for the most of June.
I WILL be voting Labour, but I see it as nothing but slight damage limitation.
It really is little more than placing a few sandbags at your front door during extreme flooding.

Me too, I'm not mentally ready to go back to work after the situation I just went through over the last month and a half. Hero to zero in 48 hours.
Best wishes for it , I have a family member who has to undergo a PIP ( Personal Independence Payment) assessment every so often and they are always anxious and fraught in the days leading up to it .

Really hope things go well for you tomorrow. Although I don’t know your situation I can empathise with feelings of helplessness. Due to a situation beyond my control I went from a capable Mum of two with a part time job to someone who couldn’t get past the front door. Take your time and look after yourself, things will improve.💙

I’ve just registered for a postal vote. We’ve been moved into a new constituency, basically an 80 mile strip along the Moray Firth/ North Sea coast. It’ll be an interesting contest . The old area was Tory, mainly a farming/fishing/rural community, with SNP second. The eastern , new bit is mainly SNP councillors, and in the middle resides Alex Salmond current Alba Party leader , who has held this area in different format for SNP in the past . So Alba could throw a wobble into it. Labour are likely to be stronger in the two main costal towns. As this was one of the few areas in Scotland to vote Yes for Brexit ( think Fishing and farming.) , Get Brexit done was a big factor in 2019 . So all change now and hard to call as both Tory and SNP will lose votes to Labour so could be a three way tussle. Interesting ! 🤨

I agree . There is nothing about the Labour party policies or in particular Starmer to get excited about other than the fact that they aren't the Tories who have made the biggest mess of the last 14 year imaginable.

Starmer is as establishment as they come. His past here as DPP and his statements re campaigning for the Union, in the event of a Border Poll, leaves many here (including me) suspicious of him.
I may have missed something there AT.

Appreciate that you may be in favour of a united Ireland but how does the fact that Starmer , a committed Unionist, said that he would campaign against in any referendum makes him less than honourable?

Are you saying that as DPP he wasn't even handed? I can't comment on that as I have no idea what his track record was in that regard.

In the event of a border poll under the Good Friday Agreement, both governments are meant to leave it to the will of the people and not campaign for a particular outcome. Neutral arbiters if you will, dating back to the ‘no strategic or selfish interest ‘ wording of the Downing Street Declaration of 1993. Starmer has no business making statements of support for the Union in this respect.

Regarding his role of DPP, and advisor to local police here, you should consider that through the prism of Nationalism never fully accepting the legitimacy of courts or justice in general. He was part of the machine and gaining approval should not be considered easy. Interestingly though, there have also been concerns raised that he is sympathetic to Republicans.

We never fail to be complex :pint2:

We too have moved constituencies. Our old one was the only remaining Labour seat in Durham after the collapse of the Red Wall at the last election. Our new one, Spennymoor is very right wing - think BNP type extremists. I might be on holiday for the election so will be registering for a postal vote.
Registering for a Postal Vote was very simple on line, tick boxes, DOB, post code , NI number , upload a copy of your signature ✔️
