Thanks for your comments on the Boys from the blue stuff article - I guess my cover’s completely blown😂😂. Garry is v chuffed with it but why the heck did they pick the photo with me looking like I’m going to eat a meat and potato pie in one mouthful 😂😂. Someone else has contacted him about being in a book he’s writing- I think he could get hard to live with if this carries on 😂😂😂. Seriously tho with our impending grandparenthood I hope it’s something that will be looked at by them when we are long gone and it becomes a part of Everton’s history 💙

@peteblue Thought this might interest you. The tendency for customers to start drinking earlier and go home earlier certainly suits my personal preference and it seems like I am not on my own.

Val, I hope you are proud of this, you certainly should be. We are all blues, but not everyone goes the extra mile as you have both done. Seriously, congratulations to you both….

It’s a trend anyway that has happened since Covid. People come out earlier and go home earlier. The takings are not particularly any worse, it’s just different. Saturdays we could be still be open after 1.00am, but now by 10.00-10.30 the pub empties. It’s actually quite good both for our staff and our neighbours, so no complaints from me…..

Just in from the pub and find that 'Boys from the Blackstuff' is currently being shown on BBC4 , and has been since 10PM :eek:

It;s on until 3.20 so that's no sleep for me tonight. :Blink:

It’s a brave move for a city bar to do it though. There are no houses around there to have to worry about neighbours but you must take the experienced publican on face value re potential trouble. However, the head of some hospitality group declared that as one of the safest parts of the city according to police stats. The point was made that the cruise ships are back and those guests expect a modern European city with late hours etc.

The new Belfast Nighttime Zsar will have a full inbox in trying to find the happy medium during their tenure.
