Hi folks. I can't believe the wedding is already a week in the past. This also means that I have calmed down enough to share the drama that almost resulted in a divorce and/or me spending a considerable time behind bars. It is NOT funny - everybody else thinks it is. I do not.
On the morning of the wedding there was only me, Mr F, son and daughter and daughter's bf in the house. the bride's family had rented an airb&b and she was getting ready there. all was going well. Hair done, photographer arrived to do 'getting ready' pics, make up lady arrived to do me and daughter. Wedding at 3.30pm. At about 2pm mr F shouted from upstairs ' Ange, I can't find my waistcoat' Annoying but not a disaster. Oh how wrong I was. He had one job. ONE JOB! he had brought the wrong suit!! he had brought the black funeral suit he wore at my Dad's funeral and not the dress code specified blue check style one. Furious would be an understatement.
The only plan I had was to go into Nottingham and buy one. There was a branch of the same shop where we had bought his suit in Newcastle. You'll never make it Mum, it's 20 minutes into Nottingham. Groom was now panicking. I am not going to be late for my son's wedding I replied. I rang the shop, spoke to a lovely sales assistant and explained our 'suit emergency' Come in she said, I'll sort some out and he can get ready here. Lovely make up lady, who was doing daughter's make up and watching the drama unfold then offered to pick us up from the shop and drive us to the wedding venue. So we got a cab into town and went to the shop. I was fully ready for the wedding, hat, everything. The sales asisstant literally ran to meet us 'I've got some for you' Mr F tried a couple on, one fitted well and met the spec so we bought it, he left it on, phoned the make up lady who came and picked us up. We made it to the venue before the groom.
I am still not properly speaking to him. I sent the make up lady flowers and wrote a nice email to the suit shop Head Office about the excellent customer service.

You cannot make this stuff up!

Oh well, alls well that ends well Anje. I have a” dress saga” going on with Mrs bl and youngest son’s wedding in 5 weeks time. Two dresses have been purchased , various items have been tried and changed. She looks fine in both , yesterday she had the full outfit that she’d chosen on and again looked very good . This is of course treacherous territory for us men . One slightly misplaced remark and . Saying “ it’s fine” is clearly not enough, too many words and you’re struggling if there’s a change of item and maybe back tracking. So far only one major faux pas from me ,

We had thunder last night no rain just the noise ,it seems the bolt/s hit about half a mile from us and cleared 2 1/2 acres of forest ! We lost electricity for a few minutes . I must have posted we lost electricity for six days were we lived last ,weird I know but back to basic living short term is special .Lots of families have a second home ans some are quite primitive ,no running water or electricity and a composting toilet . They are so nice ,no distractions just swimming and fishing and lazing about reading or whatever takes your fancy .NO Fred , but most of all probably no internet for many.

I remember many many years ago when I was a young lad and we lost all power. We had the coal fire burning, candles going and it was bliss. My mum and dad and the other family members all fell asleep on chairs in the living room. After a few hours the electric came back on, but I was just enjoying the peace and quiet so much and the candle lit atmosphere that I immediately switched the lights back off without anyone waking, sorry if I’ve mentioned this before……

Hope so, the forecast is good though. Yesterday was grim, windy and cold here. Had to resort to putting the heating on again.

Good morning all I hope all are well and had a good night . Today's job was taking of the kitchen cupboard handles to clean it is so much easier with a toothbrush . Well it seems the gods are shining on us for a day or two as the 777 group have had the big shoulder ,they stunk from day one and now onwards and upwards we all hope .
