Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning all, the terrible weather continues, I don't think we are getting summers anymore, the weather patterns around the globe have all changed, I've said before, half the worlds flooding the other half is scorching.

We seem to have just been given the rainy end of the changes and although I'm thankful for no extreme weather, raining constantly is a real energy sapper, maybe because I have to go out walking I notice more but my heck it's rubbish.

Not too sure what to make of Everton in the transfer market as I have no clue whatsoever what sort of budget we have but we need some better players to avoid struggling again. PSR killing the game off so the super league 6 can have their way.

Ranting over, have a good day everyone.

Good evening all. I can concur with the weather. Its cold and wet in Durham. Not fun!
I have had an absolute 'mare of a day. I don't know if I told you our washer broke about a month ago. It is 7 months old. I was initially promised a repair then a replacement when the part could not be located. Nothing has materialised until last week when I was told the repair man would be here today. The man came, without part or replacement appliance and told us we needed a circuit board and he could get it by Friday. Phoned manufacturer who apologised and said they should have sent me an email with an uplift code that I should give to the retailer who will then arrange a replacement. I bought it off Amazon. After a tortuous experience with Amazon Customer Service which involved speaking to 5 different people, they told me the code is useless, they can't do anything with it and I should go back to the manufacturer and ask them for a different solution that they can process. So I went back to the manufacturer who said sorry, once we've issued the code that's our bit done. Case closed. What a palaver. I shall continue this fight tomorrow and tell them I now want a refund not a replacement.
Hope you all had a better day x
This is why I'm getting more wary of buying white goods online because I am rubbish at sending stuff back, remember the kettle, it's still here despite me setting everything up and only needed to take it to the post office.

I'd check that your statutory rights aren't being infringed there anj.

Hi folks. Just finished work and very much looking forward to my non-working day tomorrow. I'm meeting my friend for pie chips and peas at the Taylors pie factory cafe. It's always good! 🤣
After another tortuous experience with Amazon I have finally secured a refund on the defective washer. So a good result but I feel like it has taken years off my life!
58 days to my hols. I genuinely cannot wait.
Looking forward to the football tonight. I felt so sorry for Slovenia last night - they tried so hard.
I've done a Je Suis Fred there :D

Morning everyone,

Table Tennis AGM at Southport last night and absolutely chucked it down as I drove home and seems to have continued throughout the night .

Managed to catch the 2nd half of the Austria Turkey game and what a match , even Mrs J was watching the last 5 minutes and what a save in the end. I remember Banks save v Pele and I think this one was even better given the wet surface and context of the match. Both teams were so much better than England.

No gardening today and honestly this weather is getting beyond a joke.

A very good friend of mine has organized a music festival for Saturday at his beautiful house set on the hill above Mawdesley .

7 years ago his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer . Fortunately she is all clear now but every year he arranged a festival to raise funds for Cancer research. Last year he raised over £7k and this year he hopes to hit £10k.

There are 3 bands including a Kylie tribute who plays on cruise ships and a band who appeared at Kendal Calling this year. All appear for free .

Obviously we are in the lap of the weather gods . I am desperate for it to be ok as he's put some much time and effort into it.

It's called PettsFest if anyone's interested and would like to support it. The raffle prizes are incredible, I don't know how he gets them. Last year I donated a couple of bottles of vintage wine and was embarrassed in contrast to other donations so this year I won't bother and just buy more tickets instead!

Guess today will just be gym and chilling, not even any football to look forward to

Anyway have a lovely day everyone.
The weather is awful isn't it. What an amazing thing that your friend does. I've made a little donation.

Good morning all. It isnt actually raining here but it is not warm. I'm debating toes out or trainers for my lunch meeting. I think trainers might win!
Dad's house sale is progressing slowly. We were asked yesterday by the sellers to provide building regulations approval because it wasn't in the local searches. After consulting Mr Google and .gov.uk. I discovered that these only came in in 2010 and apply to extensions and possibly new bathrooms but not if you are just replacing like for like. The house had a new bathroom in 2006 and a conservatory in 1998 so I've no idea what that is about. I have asked pur solicitor to query what they want. We actually had another, better offer on the house made privately but brother and I both thought Dad would go mad if we pulled out of this one to take up the better one. He was a man of his word and didn't like any shady dealings.
Have a good day all x

A busy couple of days for me, with a funeral yesterday morning then in the afternoon off to pick up my kilt for my youngest son’s wedding on Friday down in Loch Lomond. Sadly the weather Gods don’t look to be with us 🤷‍♂️. We’re heading down today ahead of the main parties to make it a mini holiday , then we’re bringing my brother , who’s coming up from Wales, back with us for a few days. Off now to finalise the final packing 🙂

Have a lovely day. I think we need a pic of you in your kilt on the big day.

My Mum’s house wasn’t listed at the Land Registry as it was bought in 1976. We couldn’t transfer ownership until it had been registered. We had to send the deeds, parents marriage certificate, death certificates and our birth certificates. To cap it all I have no passport or driving licence to prove my ID, took months to sort it. Hope you have better luck.
