Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Hi everyone,

We eventually arrived home from Rhodes after an incredibly tortuous journey.

Plane took off 15 minutes late , no problem there.

An hour into the journey we had the " is there a doctor or nurse on board " announcement.

For the first time ever we were sat in seats 1a and b and were privy to everything.

A passenger had an allergic reaction ( but wasn't allergic to anything!) and then had a seizure.

Cabin crew wanted to give him an epi pen so that was the next announcement was " does anyone have a spare epi pen ".

Another seizure and epi pen doesn't do the trick so pilot decides to divert to Brindisi.

We land with 2 ambulances waiting. Patient then says " I'm ok I had a seizure on the way over and this has happened plenty of times before"

Initially refuses to get off but then agrees shouting " make sure they bring my duty free fags and booze"

Honestly it was like a scene out of Phoenix Nights .

They unload his bags ( no idea how he will get back - surely every airline will refuse to fly him - and he probably doesn't have insurance, get a local mechanic to do a safety check , refuel, get a new flight schedule and back in the air in an hour and a half and with just 15 minutes before the pilot would have been up on his hours.

Got into Manchester only 2 hours late but then taxi driver found every road around Wrightington and Parbold flooded and impassable.

Eventually got us home by driving through a river which came over the cars tyres ( I'd never have tried it )

Speak tomorrow.
Sounds like the journey from hell, I’ve seen some of the roads around here are bad but it sounds worse than I thought. Glad you’re both home safely

The road at Wrightington hospital was terrible but we went through that not knowing how bad it was .

There were 2 flooded sections of Lancaster Lane . The first wasn't too bad but the 2 and was impassable there was a car and even a 4x4 stuck so we turned around and went down Parbold Hill and predictably at the bottom by the Wayfairer it was flooded. Most cars were turning around but as the alternative for us was to go back through the flood at Wrightington the taxi driver chanched it and we just made it through. Road also flooded at Briars Lane but not so bad.

Never seen the roads so bad Val.

Good morning. Glad you home @jazzy . @blueloon a lovely tribute to your grandson. I was reading about baby loss certificates in the news last week. Some of my friends have applied for them and they feel happy that their lost babies are being acknowledged.
I was in Liverpool yesterday for a final visit to Dad's house. It was more emotional than I expected. Brother and I went to aToby Carvery for lunch. For those who know, it used to be a pub called The Kingsman and was probably the first place most of is got drunk in!
The weather was horrendous- Liverpool seemed to be under water and it got no better. It finally stopped raining on my way home somewhere north of Lancaster so I had a brief respite until I hit the A66 across the Pennines which was thick fog!
Have a good day all x
