Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Pesto in Appley Bridge is , I suspect, a lot cheaper.

3 lunch menus , 3 small plates for £11 , 13 or 15.

Of course being the greedy pig that I am I had to order a 4th Gambas because it was only on the a la carte.

Stunning value , I have to report that the small plates weren't that small either.

And a very good glass of Sangiovese
Yeah. Luca's does a lunchtime special too and I think it was quite reasonable from memory. Small Plates are popular in other cuisines too. There's also a Thai one on Allerton Road and if course our fave Indian chain.

Cal and I often just ordered a selection of starters and dim sum at Chinese restaurants too.

Good evening everybody. It is still freezing here. The horses who use the field behind our house were all out in their very stylish winter coats today - different patterns of tartan seemed to be the in thing to wear.
We're off to Nottingham tomorrow for the weekend so I hope Storm Bert isn't as bad as being reported. I'm looking forward to it. It's a proper family get together- Charlotte and her boyfriend are coming too.
Foodie question- a while ago I bought some langoustines from Lidl. I have no idea what to do with them but I love seafood and they looked nice. Any suggestions?

I avoid them like the plague after an embarrassing episode in a very good restaurant trying to get into them. Never again , same for lobster .

Buy a Lobster, a crab, some mussels, prawns, cockles, clams and oysters. What the French call Sunday lunch.😀

Seriously though, keep it simple. Cook them in the shell, either boiling or grilling, then eat with a green salad, marie rose sauce and brown bread and butter. Or with some Thai rice abd a sweet chilli sauce. Don't forget the wedge of lemon. They are very sweet.

I'm allergic to crayfish so can't eat them anymore. But they are lovely. You'll enjoy them.

Edit. And a plaster for when Mr F cuts himselt shelling them. 😀

They are big prawns ,we used to call them scampi in the 60's ,so treat them like that .

I hope you realise that you've just turned me into a liar Blue. I can actually eat 3 scampi (as I will tonight as part of my fish and chips without the chips) But any more than 3 and my allergy kicks in.

Thank you. I'll investigate some of those x

Back at it today isn’t it sad when it’s the international break and we can’t get beat,

It’s should a sad scenario that we have come to this , I was at the cup winners cup final when we won it in Rotterdam, and we have had some great teams since then ,now we have to worry if we can beat the likes of Ipswich Southampton Leicester and the list goes on

Hopefully the new owners 🤞 can put us back where we belong, anyway we are all Blues together and we live in hope

Couldn't agree more DE, we've fallen so far since that brilliant team of the 80s .
However what was it Winston Churchill said ..." It's always darkest before the dawn".

Let's hope dawn breaks with TFG.

Morning all, wet and a bit breezy here but I think we will miss the worst of Storm Bert. The name has brought back memories of my Grandad, Uncle and also my friend’s Dad who were all called Bert.
Not much planned for today, will tune in to the commentary this afternoon, hoping for the best but expecting the worst as usual.
Safe travels and have a great family weekend @anjelikaferrett, how is Charlotte keeping? Well I hope.
Also safe journey to Goodison this afternoon @Val P.
@jazzy Enjoy the table tennis masterclass
Have a good day, all and keep safe and dry, wherever you are.💙
