Morning all, another grey, wet miserable day here. Off to see my friend for our usual Wednesday morning natter. Have a good day, all.

Trying not to be too downbeat, I always think there is an inherent sadness about New Year. It isn't really about looking forward, it's looking back. I always think about the people we have lost - My Nan loved New Year, her Mum was Scottish and she was very proud of her Scottish ancestry. She would have a massive family party which we loved as kids. You weren't allowed to touch the buffet until after midnight. She would always be the first foot. Once again the staunch Catholic influences became involved - her favourite saint was St Martin de Porres. St Martin was a darker gentleman from Peru so the statue of St Martin would go out with her to act as the tall dark stranger! Her love of St Martin combined with her love of horse racing and without fail, if he was riding in England she would back anything ridden by the French jockey Yves St Martin!I don’t like New Year much either. My late Mum would always first foot even into her late eighties she would walk round with my brother to ours (only a 10 minute walk) , stay to watch fireworks on the telly then walk home. When she became too frail she would always ring as the clock struck midnight. Now she is no longer here there is no reason to stay up so I just go to bed to be woken up by the industrial strength fireworks in the neighbourhood, Mr Gwladys still snoring like a stuffed pig.?
Happy Christmas. 60 pages of idle chit chat!Hope everyone had a great Christmas. 60+ pages to catch up on, you guys have been busy

Doh.90s mate. Wasn't it the lad from the Las who formed them after the Las split.?
That was supposed to be the case on Boxing Day but I was too ill to even think about cooking it. ?Tailor made for a New Years Day - kill or cure

Bless her. They certainly know how to take up maximum space.I don't know if you know anything about beagles but they are a very tactile breed, always got to be touching you and sitting with you, I love it but I often find myself crammed to the edge of the couch/bed, she's a pain in the butt lol
It's not you, I was linked I to a thread rarely post on ......it's not down to you .....I understand what you saw but I think it was innocently posted ,another simple misunderstanding .I am sure he never meant to upset you or disrespect your mother .Please forgive a misunderstanding Joey
