Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

It's frightening how quickly it spreads. I tested positive back end of August so I'm guessing it was delta. Double jabbed at that time. It was horrible. Felt quite ill, sweat pouring off me, no sense of smell, absolutely exhausted. Also other symptoms - let's just call them "stomach issues" that I never even knew were a symptom until Dr Google helped me out. It took weeks for the fatigue to go away. So glad I was vaccinated at that time because if that was how ill I felt with a vaccine I would have hated to have got it whilst unvaccinated.

None of the rest of the family tested positive and I've no idea how I caught it. The only places I go to are Tesco and Home Bargains!
It's weird. My daughter shared a flat with a girl in the early days of COVID who caught it but my daughter didn't get it.

Glad that you are fully recovered now anj

Thanks. I was genuinely shocked at how bad I felt. In spite of being an overweight couch potato (think Bagpuss!) I'm generally healthy and rarely ill. I can't remember the last time I was off sick from work. So this did come as a surprise.
There are some very fit people who have suffered badly at the hands of this virus.

In your neck of the woods , Karl Darlow the Newcastle keeper is one.

Which makes it all the more incredible that so many footballers won't get jabbed.

In the last 36 hours 6 people I know pretty well have tested positive.

Fortunately I've not been in contact with them but this new variant is everywhere.

Very good friend of mine now lives in London and he had been saying that it was everywhere there, he caught it and made me aware of the stomach issues aspect, up until then i had no idea that was a thing tbh. We are generally about two weeks behind you guys so we are just getting to stage now where it is absolutely rampant. Im just presuming that everyone will get it now at some stage as it seems almost impossible to avoid .

I agree with this. Thankfully it seems somewhat diluted and most of us have been jabbed.

There is a certain inevitability to it all for me at this point, having dodged it so far I mean. We are all vaxxed at home, kids too, so we have done what we can anyway.

Not PCR just antigen. PCR tests are backed up here in Ireland now so I'll only go for one if I start showing symptoms. To be honest I have basically isolated for the last 18 months anyway so another few days won't make any difference now. Ironically enough I was just getting into the car to go for a pint on Monday afternoon when my wife came out and said you aren't going anywhere because xxxxxxx just tested positive
And you believed her?

?

My wife and my son (back from uni) have both tested positive today, she’s worked throughout in A&E and he’s been working in a supermarket. They’re both double jabbed and boosted.
