Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Found it difficult to get an online delivery slot so completely adjusted the weekly shop regime in the Jazzy household.

Used to do it on a Friday but I now do our weekly shop at 8am on a Monday morning , there is no one else in the shop , be it Tesco or Aldi ( I alternate each week ) .

1 trolley , 2 lists - 1 for us and 1 for my mum - 2 seperate bills ( mum goes mad if she doesn't get her own !) - and a car full of stuff that keeps us all topped up until the next week. Looking for long sell by dates without picking something up is tricky , but you get used to strange looks when squinting at a chicken !

Mums shop is all meat , ours is all veggie stuff. Jobs a good un!

The only problem is when there is a wine offer on in Tesco and I want to squeeze 12 bottles into the already full trolley.

Anyway enough of my shopping habits. Its looking lovely out there but the rain is coming soon so off to walk the dog.

Have a lovely day everyone.
Best time to go online and book is usually around midnight.

Good morning all. So far today I have been to the local hardware shop to buy a can of WD40. I walked, I can't believe how mild it is. 12C. Last night I finished the Baileys I got for Christmas so that's a step towards the healthy new me. Felt a bit rough this morning, wasn't sure if it was Baileys induced or Rona so did a test - negative. Must have been the Baileys!

Back in work tomorrow so basically this is it. Christmas over and done with for another year. I'll be shopping tomorrow (pay day for both me and Mr F). we have loads of sweets/chocolates/mince pies and other stuff like that left but very little actual food.

Have a good day all of you.

I tend to book my slot a week to two weeks in advance, do my shopping because they don't take the money until the actual day so I always get it ready in advance, much easier to get a slot. I also book flexi slots as it's cheaper and I can be available anytime anyway plus they always let you know in the morning what hour they will be turning up.

Hope they get better soon and are not too ill with it.
Just from the regulars in this thread you can tell that it's rampant at the moment. I'm hoping it blows itself out over the next couple of weeks before my planned trip up to Liverpool, because I'll be socialising for a week and definitely don't want to catch it. I'm fully jabbed but don't really want to have to self isolate when I'm away from home.

Morning everyone, hope everyone is well today, I'm feeling good, had a good nights sleep which is rare with my condition so I awoke in a good mood. May as well do some gaming today, not much else to do.
I'm feeling good today too, but unlike you mine was self inflicted. Can't believe it's taken 4 days to fully recover from Christmas night, remind me never to do that again. Remind me, what day is it tomorrow lol .

Weather still dreadful down here so I've decided to put off my 5 minute walk to the local shop for another day lol. Yes I know I'm a lightweight but the combination of wind and rain down here can be scary, especially out here in the sticks. I can get by with milk a day past it's best

Haven't managed to cross the door since Christmas day so starting to climb the walls a bit. May spend some time updating a few recipes that I've promised Sassy. Strange taste chicken (much nicer than it sounds) and my pilau rice on the agenda for today. ;)

That would be rubbish. Hopefully you won't catch it.

I find that milk lasts well beyond its sell-by date, often four or five days, if it doesn’t walk out of the fridge on its own I use itlol

I only have a smidgen in my tea at breakfast time. It was use by today and it was absolutely fine with my coffee this morning. A pint of milk usually lasts me until it's use by date (7/8 days) and I generally throw out at least half the bottle.

I have to conclude that given the amount of hugging, kissing and shaking hands I expect to be doing, it would be pretty difficult not to catch it.

I found out a couple of days ago that, on the day I'm due to fly back, there is a party in memory of an old work colleague who died in very similar circumstances to Cal. He was on a golfing holiday with friends in Spain and didn't feel well one morning so they left him in bed when they went off to play golf. They came back to find him dead in his hotel room having had a heart attack. He was 59. News broke the day before Cal's funeral. Very sad. Although both Cal and I worked with him he wasn't in our own circle of friends, but many of the latter will no doubt be attending the celebratory night and I'd really like to catch up with them if possible. I'd also like to be able to attend the funeral of my good friend who passed away Christmas eve.

Over the years I've probably had 2 groups of friends, work related and non-work related. Between these 2 events I'll likely meet up with a huge number of those people who have been a part of my life for the last 40 years. So my intention is to change my flight plans so I can attend both when I'm up in Liverpool. Hopefully Boris doesn't close us down beforehand.

May I recommend this course of testing for your trip Fred.
Seems legit enough lol

Many thanks to the alchoholic that gave the cointreau and baileys recipe ,me and the wife can't see straight so forgive me not reading back through the post to see who to thank . We have by far the highest infection rate today 9000+ in one day which is 9 times more than our total of deaths .I went out with gloves and mask and ran around the shops .Please all think before you go out and if necessary drink old milk !! We have a milk drink here that used to be available in UK ,is it still ? It is buttermilk .Sorry GTG the wife is pouring the next one -it was half pint glasses wasn't it ?
