Watched the start before putting the darts on.
Can’t believe it’s taken them until the 30th December to put that on over Xmas.
Must mean Last Crusade will be on New Years Day.

One of my lads got a Scalextric for Chrimbo. Took me right back.
Now, of course, it’s all controlled from your phone. Bill Gates keeping his beady eyes on how often I come flying off at the bend, the nosey little get.
It is not too late. Nobody won it so it plays again this weekend so I'm going to give it another try with our lucky numbers.Probably too late but if you need numbers for next week mine is 25
A couple of our lucky numbers were drawn, now we just need a few more together lol
NYE used to be my favorite Holiday before my daughter was born. In Colombia the New Year is usually celebrated with family, eating lots of food, dancing and drinking. We also have lot of different traditions that we practiced during the evening such as wearing yellow snickers inside out lol My mum's favorite one having 12 grapes right a midnight, you ask for a wish with every grape you eat. Right at midnight Colombians usually burn an old doll full of fireworks that represent the old year, it is our metaphoric way to blaze everything that went bad during the year and smolder the past while embracing a brighter future.Morning all
@blue1948
@Gwladysover
@anjelikaferrett
we seem to be the only ones up at this ungodly hour.
Well it might be be mild but it's chucking it down here.
Anyone got any plans for the New Year? I've never really enjoyed it. When younger and going out everywhere was too busy and you couldn't get a cab home. I remember one in particular where we left town at 1am , tried to get a cab at the top of Bold St and ended up walking home to Huyton. Not sure how Mrs J managed that in heels!
I think we were scarred by that and then stayed local and gradually as we got older and moved further and further out of town just went out less.
So plans for the big night - chinese takeaway fairly early on , some vino with bubbles later and welcome in the New Year with Jools Holland.
Do you still follow the tradition of the darkest person bringing the New Year into the front door ? Since Mrs J is a redhead and I'm grey it will fall to Susie our black as coal withches cat. Amazing what she'll do for some Dreamies.
Have a lovely day everyone.
The past couple of years have definitely been rubbish for a lot of people, many of us have lost love ones and they are already missed. Hopefully 2022 will be a better one for everyone.Trying not to be too downbeat, I always think there is an inherent sadness about New Year. It isn't really about looking forward, it's looking back. I always think about the people we have lost - My Nan loved New Year, her Mum was Scottish and she was very proud of her Scottish ancestry. She would have a massive family party which we loved as kids. You weren't allowed to touch the buffet until after midnight. She would always be the first foot. Once again the staunch Catholic influences became involved - her favourite saint was St Martin de Porres. St Martin was a darker gentleman from Peru so the statue of St Martin would go out with her to act as the tall dark stranger! Her love of St Martin combined with her love of horse racing and without fail, if he was riding in England she would back anything ridden by the French jockey Yves St Martin!
I also think about a friend's Dad who also loved New Year. Very sadly he took his own life when she was 18. This year I'll think about our much missed Messy and his family and also the other folk on here like Fred and Roydo who are spending New Year without loved ones. Hopefully however we can all look forward to 2022 - it can't be as rubbish as the last two......can it?
Hmmmm. I wonder if it is a cultural thing because for Colombians NYE is one the most celebrated dates of the year. For us it is a very euphoric day, we see it as a moment of renewal. A time to leave all the bad that happened in the current year behind, it is a moment of closure and of dreaming of better things for the new year.Funny I was talking about this yesterday . I appreciate its a sweeping generalisation but I do wonder if its a Scouse thing , other than house parties as a youngster most Scousers I know , including myself , view new year exactly like you do. Maybe Its my family and the circle of friends but honestly I could take it or leave it , now Christmas on the other hand !
One of the days that we spent near the rainforest in Costa Rica was pouring down rain so we decided to visit some natural hot springs at a Spa near by and it was the best plan ever. The rain felt great while relaxing in the hot water and there was also an outdoor pool bar so we also treated ourselves to pina coladas under the rain lolIt rained that much on Monday I had to take a tour of largest Rum distillery in Australia
My husband and I did similar plans before we had our daughter, staying at a hotel was very fun indeed.Before the kids were born, me and my missus would usually go to a New Year's dinner and dance at a hotel, sometimes with another couple, with an overnight stay. You'd get dinner, a live band, DJ, have a dance, not worry about getting home and a cooked breakfast next morning.
It was much better value, and not that much difference in price, from being charged double the usual price for a "special New Year's Eve menu" at a restaurant and double for the taxi. The taxi also had to be booked in advance, so you had one eye on the time in the days before we got a text telling us our taxi was outside.
Just about every party I've ever been too has been, at best, meh. When the kids were little, we used to spend it with a couple who had kids a similar age to ours. We'd alternate between our homes each year, the hosts providing a buffet, and we'd leave well before midnight as we had young kids.
This New Year's Eve, my son will be back at his Uni house for a party with friends, so me, the missus and my daughter will have a Chinese takeaway and a few drinks. We'll probably see in the New Year, but won't be bothered if we don't.
I hope the symptoms continue being mild and that you begin feeling better soon. xI suffer from COPD and have tested positive for Omicron. Don't feel great but it just feels like a heavy cold. No shortage of breath.
I hope you manage to stay covid free, but at least having the protection of the vaccine makes one less worried than when the pandemic had just began.Same situation here now, sister in laws partner who we were with for Christmas dinner has tested positive, I also have an underlying condition which makes getting covid far from ideal but at least it's not deadly like it could have been pre vaccination and booster. Chances are we don't have it as we haven't showed any symptoms yet but waiting to get over that five day period
I have heard the same. While the home test are not perfect they are definitely more accurate than not.My doctor says that the positive test is 75% accurate but the negative is fine .
I known a few families that the same has happened to. A few of them get if and some don't. That's the most puzzling and frustrating aspect of this virus, it doesn't follow a similar pattern for everyone.It's weird. My daughter shared a flat with a girl in the early days of COVID who caught it but my daughter didn't get it.
Yep. This virus doesn't discriminate and goes after the fit people tooThere are some very fit people who have suffered badly at the hands of this virus.
In your neck of the woods , Karl Darlow the Newcastle keeper is one.
Which makes it all the more incredible that so many footballers won't get jabbed.
I agree, although our family has been lucky to none of us getting yet. My feeling is that Covid is a virus that is here to stay so we are going have to learn to live with it and survive it!There is a certain inevitability to it all for me at this point, having dodged it so far I mean. We are all vaxxed at home, kids too, so we have done what we can anyway.
My wife and my son (back from uni) have both tested positive today, she’s worked throughout in A&E and he’s been working in a supermarket. They’re both double jabbed and boosted.
I hope the shopping wasn't too bad of an experience. I also feel like in our little town that we have been living in a bubble, none of our family or friends have tested positive but many people here have been very good about keeping up with measures that prevent with the spread of covid. In our city mask wearing and social distancing still is mandatory and the weather has been warm and gorgeous this December so many people are spending time outdoors.Good morning lads and lasses ,reading the above posts has scared me as I go shopping today .We are living in a bubble here at home but the shops is another thing ,we have both been double jabbed and go on the 10th of next year for the booster .It is rampant here as well so back to gloves as well as masks for us just for the sake of it .I hope all are at their best today and try to stay safe and sound .
The advise for keeping the windows open went over my head as it is still -10 here .We exercise a bit and eat good food so I am hoping we have the fortitude to fight it if we get it .
No match again so let's hope the boys are all fit when we eventually get a game .
My husband is certainly looking forward to such promise lolNice to know you have discovered orgasms in your 70s. There's life in the old dog yet?
Sassy has promised that she and her hubby will be having multiple orgasms on New Years eve.
Think I'll stick to the Rum.
Thanks, Fred. You are the best! I look forward to checking it out once I finally catch up to this thread.I have just added my Indian Pilau rice to Sassy's thread for anybody who's interested. I'll do my Ken Hom chicken dish tomorrow.
All that typing about cooking has made me hungry so I'm gonna get off and make myself an omelette for tea. I've prepared everything so just need to do the cooking.
Have a good night all.
He would disappointed as boobs is not my specialtyHas he met Sassy?
Hope your visit went well, LT. Kudos to care takers of the elderly and to all of those, like yourself, who still make an effort to care for their old parents. Have a good day back at work tomorrow, xHi all, back home after my visit to Merseyside, mostly dealing with NHS bureaucracy. Back to work tomorrow and Saturday, drinks on Sunday then back down on Monday.
Hats off to carers everywhere I now fully appreciate how hard they work.
Will spend a little time catching up with the thread later.
Sounds like a great domestic setup you have over there with your mum in her granny flat, nice for your daughter to have her gran close at hand.Good evening everyone. Sorry I have missed some good conversation happening on this thread but as you all knew I have been spending the past few days at my mum and being with family is always a busy but very entertaining time. Yesterday everyone departed in the morning but I was still to have a very busy day as we had planned with our daughter a birthday sleepover celebration with her best friends before we left for CR. But up until yesterday morning we didn't know if it would be happening as all the girls were to get rapid tested before going to my mum's house. Thankfully everyone tested negative and we were able to have her celebration. So I spent all morning decorating, baking and getting things set up for her party, I wanted to make sure that my daughter and her friends had a great time. It was their first sleepover together in over two years so they were delighted to be able to spend the night with each other. My mum has a private apartment downstairs with its own kitchenette and bathroom so the girls spent the evening there playing games, doing crafts, watching movies and eating way too many sweets. I was up and down making sure they had enough food and drinks, and also taking lots of pictures for memories
This afternoon I finally made it back home, it seems I have been away from it for weeks and it feels great to be back. I’m already doing my favorite at home activity by taking a dip in the jacuzzi. Weather the past few days have been very warm, it doesn’t feel like December at all and my daughter has been very disappointed about it. But I am okay with it, I’m sure the next few months will be cold so I take any warm and sunny days as long as possible ?

It is a great setup, she also has a lovely garden. If it wasn't because of the ghost that house would be perfect. I think as climate change continues worsening we will be encountering a lot of heatwaves in the future, which are great for people like me who dislike the coldness but it is not good in general so I feel guilty about enjoying it.Sounds like a great domestic setup you have over there with your mum in her granny flat, nice for your daughter to have her gran close at hand.
There is what amounts to a heatwave up here also at the moment and we're looking at possible record temperatures for Hogmanay.
Boss.Hahaha, your wishes are my command. Here are a few ?
