Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Thanks Fred, I hope to get to a point to return to some kind of work again, it's more my mental health I want sorting at this point. I have so many strange behaviour patterns and ways and personality traits, never really impacted me when I was younger but do nearly every day now and it's taken its toll.

I still feel I can work part time, I worked at Asda last christmas and only left because they were taking the piss out of me, not listening to me when I told them about my health and expected me to work 45hrs a week, almost crippled me they did, I asked for less hours and was told No, so I walked, not worth the pain I was suffering at home.

I want a diagnosis and then hopefully I can start to learn to deal with it and move forward. I seem to be getting somewhere for once.
That's awful about Asda. They are probably in breach of all kinds of equality legislation with regard to disabled staff members. It's always difficult when you don't have diagnosis. HR love a diagnosis to hang their hat on. I represented a bloke in his 40s who was so ill - he would come into work absolutely crippled with pain to the point where he could barely walk and would lie on the floor in work just to ease the pain. Nobody could find what the cause was - suggestions from various doctors ranged from fibromyalgia to nerve damage in his testicles but nothing could be proven and none of the treatments for each thing they decided it was did not make him any better. His mental health was shot because of it. Although he was clearly unfit for any kind of work because there was no diagnosis I could not get medical retirement for him because their logic was he could get a diagnosis at some point in the future and could be made better so would be able to work again. It was so frustrating.

It was 100% on my manager, she's one of those do as I say people and was a complete jobsworth who lived in the store so expected everyone else too as well.

The best of it is I only applied to part time, my contract was 8hrs a week, she had no business telling me no, I walked before i did or said something I shouldn't.

It was hard enough working during covid in a very very busy store, I was in so much pain at home but i didn't want to be unemployed. However I almost collapsed just after xmas, doing her hrs for 3 months, it took me a full week off before my body could walk properly, so I went and asked(again) for less hrs, she said no, so I walked out mid shift.

I don't want to work for people like her at all.
Don't blame you mate. The good news is that she can only work in one place ;)

She will have been in breach of something absolutely. I do have diagnosis for my physical health, I provided proof from the Dr as I had to due to having to ask for a day off to goto the pain clinic, yes, she asked for evidence I was going to the hospital lol

It was because my mental health is bad I have just left and let it lie. She would probably get bollocked off HR at head office if I had felt like pursuing it.

Happy match day, Blues.

Still dark outside and it has been raining all night. Today is going to stay cloudy and there is a chance of snow mix later tonight. Just the perfect weather to begin the working and school week lol

Last night we took it easy with the family, watched a movie and I felt sleep while watching a documentary. This morning when I opened my email I had a letter from the NC lottery informing me that I had won and I almost got a heart attack of excitement only to found out we had won only $4 ? So while we didn’t win the big one I got most of last night’s investment back and we still have another chance to win it as nobody did and the prize has increased to $522 million. Here are the numbers that won us the $4

Looking forward to today’s match, hopefully Everton puts a good performance after no playing for so long. Thinking about Karl this morning and wondering what he would be saying about today’s game. He had some very amusing post when it came to Everton and Benitez. Thinking about you @messymascot and missing you, darling!

What a cow. I hate managers like that. Bullies who prey on people they perceive as "weak". I would imagine that Asda probably had things in place to give you time off for hospital appointments but she was ignoring them.

You've reminded me why I decided to become a union rep many years ago. I hate injustice and although I did get to quite a senior position within the union I liked being a branch rep best of all. Helping my members in my office. I only gave up about a year ago and still that part of it.

Congratulations - don't let it change your life!

@Sassy Colombian this is how we treat our fans visiting from America......with class, you've certainly chosen the right club Sassy, or maybe, just maybe you were born to be an Evertonian.
Either way we're more than happy you're on board. ?

Thanks, Ange. Our lives will change little at the moment given our minor wins (although I forgotten to mention that my husband also won $4 last night so we may be onto something) but if we were ever to win the big one then a lot of lives will be changed but for the best. Having lots of money for me will be a reason to do good things around the world, maybe that’s why I haven’t won it yet lol

Same here. I only ever do ours when the jackpot is huge. All I think about is how much fun I could have sharing it - because what's the point of being able to do anything you want if you can't share those experiences with anybody or make things better for them by spreading your good fortune.

A private box at Bramley Moore is on my list of must haves when I eventually win!! To be honest if I won enough I'd ask for a seat on the board. lol lol

Anyone going to Goodison today? A picture of the screen when Karl/Messy is on would be absolutely awesome x
@jazzy will be going, hopefully he can take a pic for us all. I believe @Leylo also mentioned that the remembrance will be post it online so we should be able to find Karl’s pic once it is posted.

How are you doing @Reedy1979? I know you are not an Evertonian and Karl brought you to this forum but you will always find friends among ourselves. So come and visit us whenever you want to. X

Thanks for sharing this story, LT. What a nice article and how wonderful of the Club to have treated this American fan the way they did. Our Everton is the peoples’ club and I look forward to having the same opportunity of visiting a full Goodison before we move to the new stadium. It is my current dream.
