Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

Morning Mascoteers.

So cold overnight that we left the central heating on albeit at a low setting.

2nd good bit of news of the week yesterday when the Government dropped their requirement for a negative test to return to the country. So, we are due to go to the Caribbean in a couple of weeks and my worst fear was having to isolate over there and not being able to return.

Now just have to deal with a mountain of paperwork to go. Truly it is bewildering and I feel really sorry for people even older than us , perhaps less well organised. Very frustrating process especially when your printer runs out of ink.

So will spend today trying to get to grips with them.

Hope everyone has a less stressful day .
I know what you mean Jazz. I (or rather Cal) had to go through the same stuff prior to our cruise in September. It was a nightmare. Had to upload passport photos to the NHS app and then do bloody videos and things. It was a nightmare.

Good morning lads and lasses on this beautiful morning ,I hope are doing fine and slept well.
Snow work yesterday and it was near 0° so very heavy which gave me a good workout we have a holiday here on Thursday so off shopping which should be fun!!
Seems we have a plan for the squad "according to all sources "( start the music ) , Digne is a conundrum , yes he is good but for me he has never thrilled as Bainsey did ,despite all the data, he is not happy so he must go .I think we might have a good window as there have obviously been plans afoot for a while ,we just possibly are having the clearout we all deem necessary . Where do you live mate?

Bank holiday here in Spain. Can't complain about the weather in Alicante. 15 degrees C at the moment and even with a bit of a cold wind it's perfectly manageable. Clear blue skies help.

Stay safe and warm everyone.

And how are you @Barnfred 55 ? What are you up to today beside boasting about the clement weather ? Do you ever use coconut milk in your curries ?
I do if I'm making a Thai curry. I buy jars of the curry paste (either red or green) and use a couple of spoonfuls of that, add the coconut milk, then a stick of lemon grass bruised, some kaffir lime leaves, palm sugar, sliced fresh red or green chillies, Thai fish sauce and I also add a touch of soy sauce to give the curry a bit more colouring and extra saltiness. If it's a green curry I also add some green beans and fresh coriander leaves. It's nice with chicken (that I normally fry off first) and some sticky jasmine rice. It's a very wet curry (mainly due to the coconut milk) so I normally put the rice in a soup bowl, and pour the curry on top and eat with a spoon. It's absolutely delicious. You've reminded me that I haven't made one for a while.

Not sure whether you get mussels over there in Finland Blue, but you probably know that in Cornwall we have some of the best in the world. When I eat out I often go for the mussels and my favourite is when it is done in a Thai sauce. The combination is just sublime and a lot of that is down to the coconut milk.

Sorry. You only asked if I ever use coconut milk and I've given you chapter and verse. At least it's another recipe for Sassy to try out. lol

Good morning all, can't believe it's Thursday already, I'll be travelling back up the road at some point today.
Didn't manage out, my Dad declared he wasn't quite up to it so I went and got some nice fish and chips for us which we all enjoyed.
My eldest daughter will be coming down here for the weekend to stay my parents so that puts my mind at rest until I'm back on Monday.
Dry but cold on the Wirral this morning, hope you all have a great day.
Safe journey mate. Sounds icy up there so take it easy.

As you may know T (hope you don't mind me calling you T, your username is such a mouthful lol ) I don't drive and live out in the sticks where the nearest supermarket is about 4 miles away. Public transport is also virtually non-existent. So I rely on my neighbours to take me to the supermarket. I try not to impose too much and do a main shop every couple of weeks, picking up necessities like milk and bread from the village shop when I run out. But I can't help feeling I am becoming a burden on them, not that they've said anything.

I've always preferred not to use the delivery option. Firstly because I like to pick the items myself so I can judge quality and also use by dates. But also because I'd rather leave the delivery system to those in more need than myself, like the elderly and those with health issues. But practically everybody in our small close has food deliveries, and I think i'm the only one that doesn't drive. So I'm thinking who's the mug here?

Anyway, I have enough provisions to last me up until my trip up to Liverpool at the end of next week, but I may consider signing up for the delivery system when I return and see how it pans out. At the moment though, with the weather being so wet and windy down here, going shopping is pretty much the only time I'm getting out for an couple of hours.
I think you should Fred it's easy and having recently worked in a supermarket, they do quality checks they're not allowed to pick damaged or short dated stuff.

You can call me T yes no worries lol

Morning all. Cold here as well, faint glow in the sky as the sun comes up. Going to my aunt’s funeral today. Those who have read the depression thread will know why she was so special to me so I won’t repeat it here. Have a good day everyone.
Thinking of you Gwladys. Hope you give the old dear a great send off.

It's really weird, but once you get the service behind you I've always found funerals to be almost joyous occasions. It's obviously different when it's a child who's died, but I've fortunately enough never had to attend one of those.

Yes!! I will be having one shortly just chilling them, I like my chocolate cold
I put chocolate in the fridge too. Actually, since Call passed, chocolate and biscuits are 2 of the things I have cut out. I basically try not to snack at all now and can tell I have lost a few pounds. I did miss the chocolates over the Christmas period though.

Having a salmon fillet with side salad for lunch today. It's one of those precooked ones in a sweet chilly glaze. You get 2 in a pack so the second will do me for lunch later in the week. For tea I'm going to have chicken kebabs. I'll marinade them in a satay sauce which I'll do this afternoon, then have with microwaved pilau rice, and flat breads with a Moroccan hummus.

Thanks T. That's good to know. As you'll know yourself, when you're shopping for 1 managing waste is a lot more difficult. And I absolutely hate throwing food out.

Morning my lovelies. Very cold here. The temperature gauge on my car is broken so it is 12 degrees out. When I took his lordship to work at 6.30 my car said it was -15C. Made me laugh anyway! After a very pleasant day off yesterday which also included a solo trip to the gym to do some cardio, I've come back into work to discover 9 new referrals from my boss and a letter with 32 documents attached. That should keep me quiet for a while!

Big weekend ahead for us. Son is bringing his girlfriend to meet us. He met her parents, from Essex, West Ham fans, between Christmas and New Year. Given that in his whole life he has never even mentioned a woman, this is huge! I'm surprisingly nervous about it. House is sparkling already, we are going for a meal on Friday, they are going out with daughter and her boyfriend on Saturday. I'll probably cook a nice dinner on Sunday before they leave.
I don't know why Anj, but as I was reading that I was reminded of the Mike Myers film, So I married an axe murderer. lol

Don't worry. I'm sure she'll be delightful.
