Messymascot's faith in humanity and ginger safe haven

That's one of the benefits down here. It's very wet and windy but also mild during the winter. It's 10 C now compared to 3 C in Ormskirk where Jazzy is. Even last night with a clear sky it only went down to 5 C.
Would love to see Cornwall properly as it does look beautiful from 30,000 feet.

I feel like I know it already through all the TV shows showcasing it from Stein to This Fishing Life etc

I saw that he is to be a non executive director. I'm still not entirely sure what their function is. Always seem a bit like ornaments. Nice to have but useless. Anyway I'm hoping he'll use his role to act as a critical friend to the board. Man of the people type of thing ( just for you Jazzy, Lord Denning's, if I remember rightly, man on the Clapham Omnibus.) Say it how it is. Great player. Don't really think he got the credit he deserved outside Goodison. Lead the line brilliantly.
My thoughts exactly.

Yeah it does get it's fair share of TV shows. I love watching all of them but then I'm biased.

Nor sure how easy it is for you to get here. Newquay airport used to be well served by Flybe but a lot of the routes haven't been taken up since they went bust nearly 2 years ago. The rail service to Cornwall is a joke.

Parachute it is then Fred.

Well it was black as night here at 5pm but noticed that some daffodil bulbs are just starting to peak out of the ground so I make you right on that Fred.
The daffs in the field behind me are well sprouted. They'll be in bloom early next month.

Daffs are a big industry down here. Last year half of them went to waste because they couldn't get enough pickers. It's good money but back breaking work. Problem last year was that the Europeans couldn't get temporary work permits because these were only issued for edible crops. Think the rules have now been tweaked but it will probably still be affected by covid.

I do if I'm making a Thai curry. I buy jars of the curry paste (either red or green) and use a couple of spoonfuls of that, add the coconut milk, then a stick of lemon grass bruised, some kaffir lime leaves, palm sugar, sliced fresh red or green chillies, Thai fish sauce and I also add a touch of soy sauce to give the curry a bit more colouring and extra saltiness. If it's a green curry I also add some green beans and fresh coriander leaves. It's nice with chicken (that I normally fry off first) and some sticky jasmine rice. It's a very wet curry (mainly due to the coconut milk) so I normally put the rice in a soup bowl, and pour the curry on top and eat with a spoon. It's absolutely delicious. You've reminded me that I haven't made one for a while.

Not sure whether you get mussels over there in Finland Blue, but you probably know that in Cornwall we have some of the best in the world. When I eat out I often go for the mussels and my favourite is when it is done in a Thai sauce. The combination is just sublime and a lot of that is down to the coconut milk.

Sorry. You only asked if I ever use coconut milk and I've given you chapter and verse. At least it's another recipe for Sassy to try out. lol
I use it to make a Southern Indian meat ball curry and I love to make it but the wife won't let me do it as often as i would like .We do indeed get mussels here and they cost about 5€ a kilo they come in on a Thursday which suits us -shopping day - and we have them the same night ,we have them different ways but not Thai ,we went to Kamala Bay in Phuket ( Kamala means terrible in Finnish ) and the hotel we were at had a 500 yard shopping and food market right outside and she has been put off for life with the constant smell ,me it didn't bother but she is the boss .One recipe she makes is done in the oven with Parmesan cheese on top but normally it is moules marinieres which is fine by me .
The Keralan curry I will put on Sassy's recipe page ,I am sure any meat would do but it asks for half pork and half beef mince for the meatballs .
We have wonderful fish here and we also eat perch and pike that Brits for some reason don't appreciate .

Yep the South West and Cornwall in particular is so temperate that the plants are miles ahead of us up here in the frozen north.

Like you Fred I've lived in both areas. It's definately warmer down there but perhaps even wetter.

Really sorry mate. I feel so helpless as there's nothing I can say or do to ease your pain. Sounds like most of your medication is cocaine based too so you need to be careful with the volume you take.

I know it sounds a bit extreme, not to mention a touch illegal, but have you tried the wacky stuff?. No need to answer mate, and by no means is it a recommendation as I'm probably the last person qualified to do so. I'm just putting it out there as I know a person who does use it for pain relief and it works for him. Maybe put it past your doctor off the record and see what he says. You may be able to get something in tablet form, I'm not sure.
Isn't cannabis oil for pain relief legal now ????

As you may know T (hope you don't mind me calling you T, your username is such a mouthful lol ) I don't drive and live out in the sticks where the nearest supermarket is about 4 miles away. Public transport is also virtually non-existent. So I rely on my neighbours to take me to the supermarket. I try not to impose too much and do a main shop every couple of weeks, picking up necessities like milk and bread from the village shop when I run out. But I can't help feeling I am becoming a burden on them, not that they've said anything.

I've always preferred not to use the delivery option. Firstly because I like to pick the items myself so I can judge quality and also use by dates. But also because I'd rather leave the delivery system to those in more need than myself, like the elderly and those with health issues. But practically everybody in our small close has food deliveries, and I think i'm the only one that doesn't drive. So I'm thinking who's the mug here?

Anyway, I have enough provisions to last me up until my trip up to Liverpool at the end of next week, but I may consider signing up for the delivery system when I return and see how it pans out. At the moment though, with the weather being so wet and windy down here, going shopping is pretty much the only time I'm getting out for an couple of hours.
It sure is hard getting around where you are Fred if you don't drive.

I think we're not taken by fresh water fish for some reason. Trout is probably the only one and tbh I'm not keen myself.
